  • Fat Fast- HELP

I am trying the fat fast this weekend, but I have hit a snag- what to eat. Until payday I can't get macadamias, avocados, I detest cream cheese on its own (can I make oopsies?), don't have tuna or chicken available. I need help with suggestions. I have eggs, coconut oil, butter, some HWC, string cheese, ground beef-80/20, coconut oil mayo (homemade).
Also- are the "two deviled eggs" two whole eggs, or just the two halves? I got confused when later it said two egg yolks with mayo. This is new for me as I was just doing low carb without a strict plan, then got a meal plan from my new Dr. (Atkins) and am having trouble, still, losing weight. I am diabetic- no meds per Dr., on blood pressure meds though.
    Thanks for any help given.

    Re: Fat Fast- HELP

Sorry... I don't recommend the Fat Fast for anyone, so I can't be of any help with it.

What has made you decide to do it?

      Re: Fat Fast- HELP

Because after doing the induction level since 2/16, my weight still floats around the same 3-5 ##. I was reading in DANDR about the fat fast and thought it might help start some loss and reset my metabolism.

Have you tried posting menus in the "Review My Menu" forum? Review My Menu - Atkins Diet Sometimes others can catch something that you're overlooking.

How much water do you drink?

        How consistently do you exercise?

Did you take measurements? Sometimes our fat loss does not show up on the scale, but does show in inches lost.

Hi Lady Pepper. I read your introduction post. You wrote that you are a patient of Mary Vernon. For the others here, Dr. Vernon is pro-Atkins. She helped complete the Atkins Diabetes Revolution, which was the book Dr. Atkins was in the middle of writing when he died.

You might want to consult her about using the Fat Fast.

PS, please tell Dr. Vernon about this board. It would be great if she would stop by once in a while.

if you can't find anything wrong in your menu's why not try re-induction....I just finished and lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks....better than the fat fast!

              Re: Fat Fast- HELP

You will do yourself harm if you don't do it right. It is very low protein and very high fat. You won't be eating chicken, tuna or ground beef. You only eat the yolks of eggs because the whites are high protein and zero fat. That means that the oopsies are out. Even Dr. Atkins list of foods that you supposedly can eat on the fat fast don't follow the rules and contain too much protein and calories.

The fat fast is very difficult to do since you eat 90% fat and 10% protein. You only eat 1,000 calories a day, so that is very little food. Five 200 calorie mini-meals.

All this aside, if you have been "just doing low carb without a strict plan" then you don't know if you need to do something as drastic as the fat fast without doing strict 2002 or earlier Atkins Induction exactly as written for 14 days first.

Why don't you give a clean Atkins 2002 Induction a shot first? You already have what you need in your fridge and pantry. The "new" (anything written after 2003) Atkins diet book will lead you far astray.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."
