  • Carbalose Flour / Carbquick?

I have a question about Carbalose Flour or the brand name, "Carbquick" - which I think can only be bought online.

Is it legal to ever use this in this WOE?...I know I wouldn't be using it any time soon - but do any of you use it? also - if you do, what rung? is it maintenance only?

From the netrition website, it says that it's 16 g carbs 14 g fiber...

    from the site:

"Carbalose is made through a unique process and contains Enzyme-Modified Wheat, as well as Plant fiber, Wheat protein and some unique conditioners, enzymes and emulsifiers. Carbalose does not contain any soy protein, sugar-alcohols, dairy, animal-originated, trans-fatty, or saturated fat products. "

    Just curious about it. Thanks!

Ingredients: Carbolose flour (enzyme enriched wheat, vital wheat gluten, wheat fiber, high-protein patent wheat flour, vegetable fiber, canola oil, salt, dextrose, emulsifiers, enzymes, ascorbic acid, sucralose, calcium propionate), palm and palm-kernel oil, buttermilk powder, baking powder, egg white powder, lecithin, salt, natural flavors.

Since it contains wheat, it can introduced in Rung 9 (grains). It does have dextrose in it, but apparently a very small amount... serving size is 1/3 cup, and it list 0g sugar in the nutrition facts.

I bought some from www.netrition.com, but have only used it once. There was a recipe for brownies on the carbquik website, so I tried it that way. Let's just say I wasn't impressed... however, even though I didn't think they were very good, I still overate them until I threw them away... I have control issues with anything that contains grains.

There are tons of recipes on the box and their website along the line of biscuits, waffles, crusts, etc. that I didn't try and may be good. But since I don't know when to stop on those kinds of things, I probably won't try them. Everyone is different, though... I've seen people on other sites who really love the stuff.

I have a great big box, which I will end up throwing away. I think it tastes awful. Horrible, horrible aftertaste. I know some people swear by it, but it is not for me. I thought it would be like the Atkins bake mix, but it wasn't. Atkins no longer makes theirs.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
