Re: ATTENTION PLEASE: The Truth Behind Splenda!!

As Jill said, you will always be able to find reports/studies against using most foods and additives

I wish they would test what adding 'reasonable amounts' of stuff did to people instead of stuffing rats with insane amounts of it so we would have an idea of what eating it would do to people rather than rats
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: ATTENTION PLEASE: The Truth Behind Splenda!!

That's too bad about Splenda. I do agree that things effect people differently.

When it comes to sweeteners, in my opinion, they are important. A study on infants showed that they liked sweetened water. They like the sweet taste. They smiled more when offered sweetened liquid.

I generally like anything that makes people happy - as long as it does not have a high negative cost associated with it. Like cocaine may make people happy but it hurts and becomes addictive so its negative costs way out way the positive benefits.

I think sweetness adds to the quality of life, as beauty does, as good music does etc. Personally, I use Stevia, the liquid, because I like its taste and its effects on my body.

We lose weight to be healthy in general. We want to be thinner to be happier and healthiness adds to happiness. So let's not subtract from our happiness by ignoring the taste of sweetness.

That's interesting that Stevia can interfere with the absorption of carbohydrates in large quantities... too bad it doesn't work in tiny quantities
