  • am i eating rite?

I just started atkins March 30th
and i dont really know if im eating right, i dont know if its to little or to much, or if its okay,

Im in eighth grade and i have to be to school my 730 so i usually cook 2 or 3 boiled eggs at night and put them in the fridge for breakfast.

for lunch the first day i had a can of tuna with one boiled egg, (turkey)pepperonis, and aabout 5or 6 black olives.

for dinner the first day i had a chicken breast and spinach, feta cheese, ranch salad,

for lunch the second day i had the same but minus the olives and i had 3 fresh mushroom,

for dinner i had a cheese buerger minus bun, just burgert and a slice of cheese.

today i had 2 boiled eggs,

lunch=grilled chicken minus the bun, letuce mexican cheese, and ranch sald, and for dinner i had two scrambled eggs, and i cooked some ham.

    help me please

You don't write quantities, but you should be eating maximum 3-4 oz of cheese per day. You should also eat 3 cups of vegetables -- maximum one from the "Other Vegetables" list and the rest from the "Salad Vegetables" list. I'm not sure how many cups you are eating at the moment.

But if you do the cheese and the veggies parts right, then your menu looks great.

And since you are in your teens, make sure that you don't short yourself on calcium and vitamin D. You are in a major growth phase and now is the time to make sure your bones are getting what they need. Broccoli is a high calcium veggie, cheese is also good and when you get dairy back choose high calcium dairy sources. You will never get another chance to build good strong bones so make sure your body gets the right stuff to keep you healthy. I admire your determination to do this now while you are young.

Don't they make a One a Day for teens now? I thought I saw that at the grocery store the other day, you might wanna check that out too.

Since you are a teenager, your nutritional needs are much different than us, older, folks. So ask your pediatrician about a weight loss plan because Atkins wasn't written for children or teens. There was a separate low carb diet Dr. Atkins used for children and teens, that ensured they would get the nutrition they needed .

You're in 8th grade which means you are about 14 years old. Right now, is a critical time in your growth and development. You're going through your growth spurt and your body is becoming "adult". Don't mess things up by denying your body the proper nutrients.

So please talk to your parents and your doctor about losing weight in a way that won't mess you up in the future. Your nutritional needs are very different than the adults on this board.
