  • Is this a vegetable?

Hallo there everyone. Just had a quick question with regards to what I had for dinner. I wanted some variety, so instead of getting grilled chicken from the grill (I almost always have either that or a turkey burger, depending on which they're serving for dinner), I had a couple veggie burgers. Now, I know that the veggie means vegetarian, not that it's made entirely from vegetables. And that wasn't by any means the only form of plant I've eaten today. I was just wondering if veggie burgers count as part of my 3 cups of veggies.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure what veggie burgers you ate, but the veggie burgers we have here contain stuff that is not allowed during Induction -- they are either made of soy or they are breaded and contain higher rung vegetables like carrots.

Your veggie burger was likely soy-based, or bean based, or tofu based. It would not be 'broccoli based' 'turnip based' or radish based.

I am being a tiny bit silly, but no your veggie burger was almost certainly made from a legume or something, not something from the Atkins veggie lists.

Oh oh! Thanks. I didn't realise. I guess I'll have to save those for later. Even so, I don't think I went over my carb limit, even with eating legume based substances, so that's a plus.
        Now I know. Thanks.

Like the others said, it depends what were the veggies in your veggie burger. Also be aware that vegetarian includes grains. So veggie burgers may include grains. Some of these vegetarian foods contain sugars---organic raw sugar, honey, brown rice syrup, etc.

Always know what the ingredients are to whatever you are eating.

The only thing that you could definitely say wasn't in your veggie burger was an animal product.
