    Re: What motaviates you?

My "aha" is I like to do activities and sports require you to be able to move and also I have bought clothes for riding and skiing and they are expensive and I have to fit into them or spend a lot more money.

The other thing is I just don't like to feel sluggish, have my thighs rub against each other, and when I put on even some fat it starts to itch or something. Maybe its just me but it is unpleasant.

I have one life and I want it to be the best possible I can have.

I just remembered another obvious "aha" moment. Can't believe I forgot it the first time. My 37-pound toddler is getting to be quite a load to carry up the stairs at bed time. I realized one day that I am "carrying" *two* of him all the time. That was a real eye opener!

          Re: What motaviates you?

When I reached 200lbs I told myself:"It's over now, I will never be able to slim down to my 100lbs. Never, ever. Just by surgery, maybe, one day, when I'll have the money..." And I continued eating. I gave up on myself.

Then, a few pounds later, I've been invited to Europe. Wow! Going there and looking like this?! No way! And I told myself:"let's give it a try... Hmmm... If I'll get out of obesity, at least, I'll buy myself a plane ticket to Europe. Anyway, I have nothing to loose if I try. Only weight. LOL."

214, 213, 212, 211.... 200, 199, 198.... 180...170...165! No more obese! It took me a whole year, but I did it to "no more obese"! And I bought that damn plane ticket!

Now, I'm just overweight. I'm at 148lbs. My trip to Europe is in may. I still have 9 more pounds untill "no more overweight"! I hope and pray to burn them away before that day. I hope the day I'll put my foot in that plane I'll be at "healthy weight"!

          Well, that's my motivation.

My aha moment was seeing a pic of myself! I cried and cried! I now keep that pic on the fridge so it can remind me not to eat those carbs.

I am also in competition with my son-in-law! I'm totally whipping him!

My greatest motivation is my family! My dad has Alzeimers, and I have to take care of him. When I was at 206, I was so lazy, and now, I can do everything that I need to do with him.

              Re: What motaviates you?

Ive had several lightbulb moments, but the biggest one is my age. I'm going to be 37 in the next 2 weeks and I didn't want to reach 40 over 400lbs. I knew if I continued eating the way I was, 400 was just around the corner. There are other vain reasons too:

I want to feel comfortable in my own body.
I want to wear a bathing suit and swim with my nieces in the summer instead of making excuses.
I want to fit into ONE seat on the bus/subway.
I want to go through a turnstile without having to turn my body.
I want to wear the cute fashions and not have to resort to ordering super-size clothes online.

                Two things:

My birth certificate and a mirror.

I am 53 and have been successfully maintaining my 40 pound weight loss since December 2002. Initially, all I wanted was to lose weight, but now, after this length of time, what motivates me is HEALTH and FITNESS.

I want to go into my "golden years" as one hawt momma .... so that's my primary motivation.

                  Re: What motaviates you?

I went to Michaels and made a weight loss scrap book. I just bought cute little stickers with bikinis and vacations and beach scenes. I also used letter stickers to write some meaningful words and phrases. I also am motivated by the fact that according to the Atkins theory, the scale will not go up unless you are eating too many carbs. If you watch the scale and eat right, it will always head in the right direction (down)!

Sugarfreesheila.com always motivates me, as well!
