Anyhow, read those labels. When Breyers originally came out with their low carb ice cream, the second ingredient was HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP and SUGAR was listed in the number 4 or 5 spot. Splenda was the last ingredient. lol
Oh don't tell me that breyer's low carb ice cream has HFCS in it!!!!!!!!!! I haven't bought any yet - but I DO plan on it come summer. Please tell me this isn't true, anymore!

Megs was very careful to say that Breyer's had it when "originally came out." (Yes, I'm a lawyer, but don't hold that against me... )

The current iteration of Breyer's CarbSmart ice cream does not have HFCS but it does have 4g Net Carbs, milk, sorbitol, polodextrose and Sucralose. Not exactly induction friendly, unforunately for many of us.

We won't hold it against you, but you are required to read a lot of lawyer jokes from here on out...

Did you hear that the Post Office just recalled their latest
stamps? They had pictures of lawyers on them ... and people couldn't figure
out which side to spit on.

How can a pregnant woman tell that she's carrying a future lawyer?
She has an uncontrollable craving for baloney.

        How does an attorney sleep?
First he lies on one side, then he lies on the other.

How many lawyer jokes are there?
Only three. The rest are true stories.

If a lawyer and an IRS agent were both drowning, and you could only
save one of them, would you go to lunch or read the paper?

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Good ones! For months my son pronounced "lawyer" as "liar" and we just stopped correcting him after a while...

I'm not on induction (rung 3 is where i'm at)...
And again, I don't plan on buying it probably until June or July - (hopefully goal by then???) but I absolutely would NOT buy it if it has HFCS in it.

Oh, and it's good too, Keriann!! The only ONE TIME I had a problem with it was when I drank wine one night. I rarely EVER drink. I found my craving for sweets REALLY difficult to control though as I walked unsteadily through the house!! That was the only time I exceeded the 1/2 cup serving. I knew that was better than other alternatives in the house! As good as the Breyer's is, I believe it's really important to keep the serving size at 1/2 cup or less. I didn't get any tonight while at the store. Thought about it but it doesn't need to be a staple. It IS a frankenfood but it's soooo darn good with sliced up strawberries!

Another thing that I've learned is regarding "whole grain" items... my mother (who just had gastric bypass and should be eating specific items) loves the Keebler Club Crackers... after her surgery, she switched to the Whole Grain version of them... when I pointed out to her that the nutritional information was almost identical on both kinds, she got raging mad at me. "It says WHOLE GRAIN and I can eat whole grain things". So she still eats them.

                  Re: "Sugarfree" Cool Whip

what IS the deal with sodium nitrates? why are they so bad? off to do a google search, I guess (still would like an answer though - for other people who don't know!)

                  QUICK EDIT:
ok, after i first posted, i found this on the wikipedia site:
Sodium nitrate is used as an ingredient in fertilizers, pyrotechnics, as a food preservative, and as a solid rocket propellant, as well as in glass and pottery enamels; the compound has been mined extensively for those purposes.

wow. something that is used in fertizlizers, pyrotechnics, solid rocket propellant, glass & potter enamels?????? we're eating something that is put into all of THAT???!!!!! that's insane!
O M G!!!! I am sitting here in pure shock! WHY do these damn companies do this crap to our food!!!!!! I can't believe this... I feel sick!

SlapShot... your a lawyer... HOW can these people get away with all of these lies and deception? Can't we make them stop?!!!! This is insane! Makes me want to grow a garden and eat nothing but veggies & fruits that I grow... you just can't trust any food manufacturer now... UGH

                    Re: "Sugarfree" Cool Whip

What lies??? What deception??? It's no secret that sodium nitrate is used in many things. It's up to us to ferret the information out and double (triple) check what we put into our bodies. That's why this board is so informative/helpful....

I think using "evaporated cane juice" instead of "sugar" is sneaky, but they are two slightly different things, so I don't see anything illegal or wrong about that; just sneaky...

You think that's bad, read the book Slapshot turned me onto. Most foods served in restaurants are designed to be practically "pre-chewed" so you can shovel them down faster.
