Yes, it's normal and why? Because your body is freaking out! We just say your body is adjusting to this new way of eating. I was wiped out too. Give it some more time. One day you'll wake up with tons of energy and you won't remember these tired nasty days again unless you fall off the wagon! Don't fall off the wagon! That tiredness alone is enough reason not to, not to mention stalling your weight loss! Stay on plan and you'll feel like a brand new person soon, promise!!

Yes, the first two or three days you'll feel wiped out. I had to move up my bedtime by two hours. By day 4 or 5, the extreme fatigue should have passed.

Mija, you are allowed pumpkin on induction. Mix 1/2 c. with pumpkin pie spice and splenda, and eat that as one of your dinner veggies, along with a dark green veggie.

That combination really helped me when I hit those exhausted times during induction.

Hang in there. It gets LOTS better!

We use two different types of enzymes to digest and metabolize carbs and fat/protein. When you first start Atkins you have been eating high carb and you have plenty of the correct enzymes to use the carbs for energy. Then, when you lower the carbs drastically and eat way more protein and fat, your body takes a few days to make the enzymes needed for the change in diet.

Meanwhile, all those carb-metabolising enzymes are wandering around your body with nothing to do. As soon as your body makes the switch from glucose burning to fat burning, you will feel great again.

Be sure to drink plenty of water and eat your veggies.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Check out the supplement melatonin. That might help you out. However, if you don't like to pop supplements, you may just need a little patience. I'm in the same boat you are. I can't sleep 8 hours anymore either. I'll tell you what I did though. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and watch stuff that was on my dvr. I'd be ready to pass out on my desk during the day because I was waking too early. I made this deal with myself that if I got up at a ridiculous hour, I HAD to get on the rowing machine. Treacherous!!!!!! Let me tell you, after awhile of that, you'll find a way to turn over and go back to sleep!! Seriously. It did have a wonderful impact on my thighs though!! Great way to get in your exercise too! Sometimes I still do that with the weight bench...in the middle of the night.

That's a really good idea! I will try it tonight if I wake up at some strange hour. Thanks!

No problem!! Good luck tonight. Try to stay up as long as you can. I was falling asleep too early. Your body may not need as much sleep now. I've never slept for 8 hours while on plan. When I was a carber, I slept quite often and couldn't help it. I'd just pass out. It was a bad thing. Now, I can sit on the couch, nod off for half an hour and it's as though I've slept a few hours. I LOVE IT!! It's a good side effect. There's much to do in this world! We'll accomplish more of it if we're not asleep!!

Me too! When I ate a lot of carbs, I would nap all the time, sleep more than I should, etc. On my days off I would sleep in till 1pm. That's not good. You're right, we do accomplish more when we're wide awake.
