  • Too many Calories ?

I have been searching for some info on whether or not I am supposed to keep an eye on my calorie intake. I see most people having a hard time raising theirs, while I have the opposite situation. I am eating over 2000 usually.I am a 43 year old woman, 5'7, 225lbs, and have lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks on Atkins. I haven't lost anything this week at all, and it's hard to not get discouraged, although, I feel FANTASTIC and don't plan on giving up!
Any input would be appreciated, Thanks!

    Re: Too many Calories ?

gh, I believe some people do have to watch their calories.

I've cut mine and the weight is finally starting to come off again. Tomorrow is my official weigh day, so I'll see how effective it's been.

If you choose your fats and proteins wisely, it is not difficult to trim the calories. Just whatever you do, remember that Atkins must be a high-fat diet.

Sunny is right!! I also have to watch my calories. I've tried a week at lower calories, a week with higher calories, mixing both into the same week. Unfortunately, it seems the lower calorie weeks bring weight loss. Dang it!! I got away with a lot more calories during the very beginning but that's always deceptive as much of the weight lost there is water and not fat. For awhile, I was shoving food into my mouth every 2 hours to keep the metabolism going. Not a great idea for me. I now try to listen for my hunger signals. I still go by the clock but not every 2 hours. When I'm at work, I eat pretty often. When I'm home, not so much. There are plenty of us who have to watch it. I sure remember extended induction when I wasn't getting enough calories....ah, those were the days!!! Ya'll aren't alone!!

I don't think calories (within reason) is as important as what you eat. I lost lots eating lot. I suggest posting your menu in the review my menu section and have someone look it over.

I'm not sure. I haven't really worried about my calories. I know I am well below what a low calorie diet would suggest to lose weight. The foods you eat with this woe just keep me feeling satisfied!

I'm 5'8 and started out at 225, 3 1/2 weeks ago. Good luck on your journey and new way of eating!!!
