  • Does anyone feel the same?

Hi there! Most of us advise not to go totally by the scale,go by measurments instead sometimes.

Does anyone get days where you feel you lost weight one day but the very next you feel you have put on?
Even when the scales move i feel like i have put on, one day my stomachs flat then its up again

I am quite sure that fat moves around lol...like shape changes in diffent areas of your body when losing, what do others think, also the members on maintence;did you get this feeling also?

Great to know what others think!
    Thanks
    Danielle

Let's say your weight was 100lbs. Then, you grew fat to 200lbs. Somewhere, on your way up, at 170lbs, let's say, you were feeling fat and ugly. Now, you've decided to slim down. So, you are on your road down. 200, 199, 198...so on. You finally get to 170lbs. Wow! You lost 30lbs! You feel so sliiiiiiiiim and sexy! But, a while ago, when you were on your way up, the same 170lbs made you feel big and fat and ugly. So, it's all a matter of relativity. Like Einstein said. It depends of the point of vue you are looking at it.

For me it all has to do with what I eat...I'm in maintainance and I get this all the time: when I eat too much dairy, I will bloat in my stomach area, too much wheat, I get bloated and retain water all over. Sugar alcohols will do this to me as well. I wish I looked all day the way I look in the morning..my stomach is flatter this time of day..the minute i eat anything..poof, flat stomach gone! Even sometimes depending on the length and what kind of exercise i've done can even make me feel 'fatter'.

There are a million variables that can cause it..it's not always a mindset, I think bloating, gas, and water retention (especially for women) plays a big part.

Though I agree with Vek as well, it can also depend on your frame of mind on any day! The worst for me is when I'm having a 'skinny' day, and weigh myself only to find i've gained a couple/few lbs This is why i avoid the scale and try to go by how my clothes fit and how i feel!

I have days where I feel fatter...I think it depends on a few things, like what I have eaten previously, if I've had enough water, if I drank a diet coke - that always makes me feel fatter! And look fatter too, it bloats me. I don't do that too often.

Its usually water weight, I think.

I remember the first time I grew to weigh 125 pounds when not pregnant (the most I ever weighed pregnant was 138 ). My normal weight was 100 to 107 pounds, without doing any kind of dieting. I felt huge. It was the first itme in my life I had to give clothes to my sister-in-law that were too small for me, instead of the other way around. What I wouldn't give to be a "huge" 125 pounds again!

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

            Take Your Measurements

Before you begin doing Atkins, use a tape measurement to record some vital statistics. Measure your chest, waist, hips, upper arms and thighs and write down those numbers! When you measure yourself again in a couple of weeks, you'll be happy you did: the more ways you have of gauging your success the more encourgared you'll be.

            Measurements

I hope you've followed my suggestion to measure your chest, waist, hips, upper arms and thighs with a tape measure. The loss of inches is an indication of real success and sometimes occurs when weight loss is only marginal.
            He further writes:

Your loss of inches is of fundamental importance, for it represents real fat loss---the emptying of your fat cells.
So for Dr. Atkins what the tape measure says is a far better and far more important than what the scale says.

Thanks for all the replies. I just wondered what peoples view points were. Some days i feel like i gained weight even when i lost.. it all makes sense though.

              Thanks

Re: Does anyone feel the same?

even without looking at the scale or the tape measure, I do have days when I feel.. thicker lol. Its all in your head most of the time, but some things may be a factor. For me its too much cheese, salt, a diet rite, TOM, or if I haven't been regular for a few days. All of which can be remedied or in the case of TOM will go away in a few days.
