  • Do you ever have days where you feel oddly cold?

I'm not sure if this is actually related to being on Atkins, but twice since I've started I've had periods of several hours where I get serious chills... but not like fever chills, my body temp is normal... maybe half a degree low. I don't recall ever experiencing this before. The only other time I've gotten any kind of chills was when I had malaria (I know its not that haha). Its very weird and somewhat unpleasant. I've been shivering for the last 3 hours

That happened to me on induction several times.

Since I've moved up the ladder a little, it hasn't happened again.

It happens to me when I start certain new medications as a side effect...

Generally when our temperature gauge is out of whack the thyroid is involved in some way...

Oh good it's not just me

Fortunately I doubt its thyroid problems as its only a recent thing. I think it may also be related to lack of sleep. I just pulled an all-nighter, and I think the last time it happened was pretty late at night. That being said, I've pulled more than my fair share of late nights/all nights, and this never happened before, so I figure it must be diet-related. Hopefully it doesn't happen too often...

I always feel cold on Induction and slightly cold most of the time on the low carb diet. Since I have low blood pressure I find that small changes in my diet effect my body temperature.

That is the reason why I start my restricted diet in April whenever I do, myself.

All the time. In fact, I asked a question previously about how normal it is to be freezing when low carbing. Many people stated they had the same problem when drinking a lot of water. I drink about 108 ounces per day and sometimes more. I freeze quite often. Now when I was loading on carbs and sugar, I was hot all the time. I prefer the freeze.

being hydrated effects your temp regulation. I'm normally a hot person, which makes summer in tx totally gross for me, but drinking a lot of water helps a lot. The other day I was in flannel jammie pants and a sweater and my mom was complaining about how hot she was. It makes me happy after years of always being uncomfortably warm in my extra insulation

I think it's the water. I've noticed that when I drink a lot, I feel cold. It helps weight loss for the water to be cold though, as it takes energy for the body to heat the cold water to body temp.

Also it is the lack of food probably. I notice even when I have not eaten for a while and I go out in the cold, I feel quite cold. If I then have a nice meal when I go out in the same cold again I feel significantly warmer.
