  • estrogen in fat=super weepy?

    i'm not a weepy person.
Ever since i've been losing weight and working out, -everything- is making me cry. And not in a depressed/sad sort of way, I just seem overly emotional. I know estrogen is stored in fat and is flushed away with it, does that sound like a plausible reason for all this to anyone? I was watching the biggest loser this morning while cooking breakfast and cried almost the entire time. i -am- due for TOM this week, but even back as far as week 2 this has been happening!

It's entirely possible. I remember my emotions being on a roller coaster at the first. Messed up my cycle. In the end, everything settled down and everything was way better. Less PMS, shorter TOM, less cramps.

You've changed so much (food, exercise, water), you've probably freaked your body out big time. Your hormones and metabolism probably want to have you committed.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Don't know how I missed seeing it in your sig. I am going through the same thing but mine is all premenopausal-- kind of a permanent PMS! Geesh, do we ladies ever get a break from this stuff? LOL

              Re: estrogen in fat=super weepy?

im thinking thats what it is sunny. also from doing massage therapy i know people keep emotions in their knots. so the working out might be causing it too. it sounds weird but sometimes you get people who cry in a massage and im not even trying to hurt them yet

                Re: estrogen in fat=super weepy?

i've been having exactly the same. been constantly crying over anything, shouting alot too. basically my emotions are all over the place.
but i read on here that it happens to quite alot of women. its aparenttly the estrogen released from fat.

i've been so bad that i even drove m,y boyfriend into punching a hole in the wall, because i ust wouldnt stop shouting at him. poor guy,he hasnt even done anything wrong.

                so dont worry about it

                  Re: estrogen in fat=super weepy?

There are three different types of estrogen. Estrone, Estradiol and Estriol are the ones that our body produces. Obese women produce more estrone than skinny women because fat produces estrone. Estrone is the type of estrogen that is stored in fat as well. Estrone is the most potent of the three types. So as you burn fat and the estrone is released into your system you can expect to be bombarded with this hormone that causes the worse symptoms of the three types.

                  Possible symptoms:

Mood swings, irritability, depression, anxiety, angry outbursts, fuzzy thinking, tearfulness, fatigue, insomnia, cravings, bloating, headaches, etc...

The more overweight you are to begin with, the more estrone is stored in your body and the more likely you are to be effected by the release of the hormone as you lose weight.

Too funny! Sorry, but I just finished watching it and cried almost the entire show myself. I think they make it emotional like that to keep the viewers!

                    Great info msan!

I fairly recently started taking bioidentical progesterone and I am only 45....my emotions were a wreck...
I agree China, that perpetual PMS just SUX!

but does that also apply to some slim people?? i'm not "fat". but i do have quite a bit of fat to lose. and i've been extremely emotional. i've had all of the symptoms above, except the insomnia. strangley enough this is the first time in years that i've actually been getting good nights sleep yaaaay hehehe.

so does what you said still apply to me?
thanx guys. you guys are great

As long as you are burning fat, the estrogen is being released into your system. More than usual. So yes, even though you aren't obese, you can still get the same symptoms...
