  • Safe snacking?

I've been having the hardest time finding snacks that I can enjoy. I used to eat the Atkins bars but apparently that's a no no since I'm on extended induction but I really miss them. It would take me an hour and a half to two hours to eat just one bar because I don't really like sweet things and prefer to suck on my food rather than chew it. I haven't been able to find a snack that I can just sit and nibble on to replace them.

Today I made a broccoli salad which I am DYING to finish off. I'm pretty sure devouring two heads of broccoli would be a bad thing, though. Really simple; a cup of mayo, tbsp of slenda and tbsp of vinegar as the dressing which is about 1.5 carbs, 2 to be safe. But OMG I had half of it already and it's all I can do not to grab the tuberware and eat the rest.

So, with the Atkins bars I'm satisfied with the one bar but with broccoli, my favorite veggy, I'm going crazy with cravings. Is it better to give in to the broccoli and hope I don't eat too many carbs in one sitting or to reconsider the bars?

Any snacking ideas would be appreciated. I hate cheese and most resorces I try recomend eating that as a snack. Eww~ Pork rinds aren't well liked either. Neither are watery veggies like cellary or tomatoes or any kind of squash. Or mushrooms or stuff with a similar texture. Honestly, when I can I cook up some jalepenio with melted cream cheese inside but that's not something the reheats well or is in any way quick to make. I need something I can either make in advance and keep cool in the firdge or that is quick to make.

Deviled eggs are the perfect snack in my opinion, and you don't have to go crazy making them. They are fine if you just split the boiled egg a plop on a little mayo.

I tend to keep baked chicken legs around, fix them in big batches, I like them fine cold. I also do something folks might think is weird.. I love overcooked pork ribs. I put them in the crock pot in the afternoon and put in a half an onion sliced, and throw in half a light beer, cook on low. By morning the liquid is cooked off pretty much, and they are dark brown, very tender and so rich....

You can't go wrong with meat in any form for a snack. Cold pork loin chop anyone?

If you move to OWL rung one you could add 5 net carbs more veg to your snacks/meals

But you ought to ba a fair way up the OWL carbohydrate ladder by now where the choices of foods for snacks would include things like nuts and fruits as well as veggies

According to your ticker you are only 3.8 pounds away from your goal weight, so really shiould have already moved to the premaintenance phase of Atlkins by now.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I reset my ticker to my short goals rather than keep it at a long one. I think my profile even still says 170 is my goal. I've still got about thirty to forty pounds to lose ideally so once I hit 160, I'll reset my ticker for 150.

I'm not worried about over eating on my veggies or going over 20 carbs as much as eating too many carbs in one sitting snacking on veggies. I hardly ever go over 10 carbs a day but eating the whole bowl of broccoli salad would just be a lot at once. I got to finish it off at lunch today though so at least that temptation is gone ^_^ I guess I'll wait a while before making that again since I'm so keen on it.

Deviled eggs sound good. Hard to take with me to school but for when I'm at home it's definitely a possibility. Thanks, Momtomany1!

Maybe you can alter your profile info to make your final goal more clear, so you don't get any more people misunderstanding and nagging you to move to OWL now

lol, I suppose I really should, thanks. I've never seen myself below a size 12 before so I really don't know what weight I should be aiming for. I'm now a size 10 for the first time since 8th grade, a good decade+ ago \o/ I guess 130lb for someone 5'4" would be respectable. ::goes to make that change::
