  • ? about reading nutritional info

I found some Low carb whole wheat tortillas and on the nutritional facts it says:

    31g carbs
    21g dietary fiber
    0g sugar

Which gives me a net of 10 carbs.
My question is what are 10 net carbs made of?
    are they okay for induction?

    Thanks

    Adam

The tortillas are made of wheat, so no, they are not allowed during Induction. Here is the list of foods acceptable during the first phase of Atkins: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html

Also keep in mind that over half of your carbohydrates should come from vegetables, which is impossible if you get 10 g from non-veggie foods.

You should always read the list ingredients, not only the nutritional label. If the ingredients are not on the list I linked above, then the food item is not allowed during Induction.

You would do yourself a huge favor by reading Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002. There are also some sticky threads on top of every forum, so you might want to read those as well.

LOL, they are great once you get to the grain level, but hold off until then as wheat is one of those things that can quickly toss you out of ketosis.
If I want a wrap I use a large lettuce leaf, works great for things like sandwiches

Wow, that's alot of fibre for one wrap!

I'd say once you do get to the grains rung if you decide to add these make sure you're drinking your water.... combined with other high fibre foods this could have you ingesting more fibre in a day than you are used too which could cause digestive issues if not taken with enough water.

Not right for induction - maybe in one of the rungs when you can add wheat back in.
