  • Exercise

So here I am at the end of week six, having lost 16lbs in the first four (brilliant! But another 60 to 80 to go), and having stalled completely for the last two. I've gently added more veg to increase from induction up to rung one, and cut them back out again to well under 20 carbs per day, but neither manoeuvre has shifted the stall.

Sooooo I thought, much against my natural couch-potato nature, I'd better introduce some exercise. I've not been near a gym for ten years, am over 60 and nowhere near as supple as I should be, so decided I was defintely NOT going to wobble about pathetically IN PUBLIC. Oh no, not for this girl.

So I've bought a Wii with WiiFit. I have to tell you, never has exercise been so much FUN. I've spent two days doing Yoga, ski-ing down slopes, even stepping and jogging, and generally competing with the rest of the family on stupid games, and have muscles aching that I'd forgotten I owned - and I've enjoyed it hugely. So if any of you hate exercise like me, I think I've found the answer!

(p.s. I have avoided all jokes about Wii and P.I.S.S. - with difficulty, but I've avoided them!!)

Gave up smoking and alcohol at Christmas, and doing OK with both of them - my only real craving surprisingly is not for a nice glass of wine, nor a cigarette .. but for sure I'd kill for some chocolate!

I visit you all every day to gain inspiration, and find all your chat and comments and recipes and stuff so, so helpful! Certainly wouldn't have lasted four weeks without the help from all of you!!!

Keep up the good work - from the girl who ate all the pies!

    Re: Exercise

Good for you for finding a way to exercise!! I have a Wii and have wondered about the WiiFit. I don't know if it's worth it or not because I do exercise outside, usually walking or jogging with my son and the doggies. I'm not sure if we'll get the WiiFit or not but there are lots of people on the board who have it and love it!! Congrats for picking up a healthy habit!! Great job!

        Re: Exercise

Well done for finding a way to make exercise fun! I love the sound of the Wii... I think I must invest in one. My doggies are getting pretty old and often turn back before my "walkies" is over, these days.

I bet you'll find yourself un-stalled very soon!

          Re: Exercise

I find that when I stall, exercise and watching portions to some extent, regularly get me out of the stall. And I have low thyroid as well but a lot of help for thyroid involves encouraging oestoporosis so have to be careful there too.

You are skiing? Alpine or Nordic? I am thinking of learning it too.

I started using my wii fit again this week...I had not stepped on in 104 days! And I'm breaking all my husbands records now, WOOT!

Good for you, enjoying it! I can't do the stepping, I get all confused
