You're absolutely okay - do not worry. Google "Post induction stall syndrome" (PISS) to see what's happening. What an appropriate name, eh?

imyers you are having the same effects a lot of us have after induction....your body is just taking a little time to adjust before it starts loosing again. You have remember that just a few weeks ago you were filling your body with so much crap it had a hard time keeping up - so you gained weight.....now you have changed your system again and are only feeding your body nutritious food -- it's confused, it doesn't know how to handle the new ways.

Don't get upset, don't give up just keep doing everything by the book and it will happen. Drink at least 64 ounces of pure water everyday -- make sure you get some exercise everyday -- these things will also help you start losing again. Good luck!!

Re: My weight Loss has Stopped!! help!!!

i heard the most common stall is too much protein unlike the stall i had which was eating 10 and sometimes 20 net carbs worth of whole wheat wraps thats not a vegetible though

but anyways too high protein can make your weight stall cause it can have a carb like effect thats why the ratio u eat is 65% fat 30% protein 5% carbs 20-30 net

also i believe exercise is super effective on the diet cause then the protien you eat gos to your muscles mostly

heres an example of a 65% fat 30% protein meal
eggs are 61% fat 37% protien 2% carbs

        so i think a meal of 5 eggs + tons of butter = 65% fat 30% protein

also remmber too keep eating protein dont eat too low in thinking you will lose more weight cause it can be dangerous and unhealthy if you eat to low of protien

i also lost 100 pounds eating as much protein as i wanted i never even knew protien had a carb like effect when i lost my 100 pounds but i had too stay at 20 net carbs the whole way xD

also if you had too eat something and the choice was protein or carbs always go with protien its not anyware near as bad as carbs

As others have said, a stall in the 4th week or so is perfectly normal. You've lost a lot (13 lbs in 3 weeks is fantastic!) and your body needs a little time to catch up.

If you want us to take a look over your menus, you can post a few in the "Review My Menu" forum. Don't forget to mention quantities for all the foods and your current Atkins phase. If you are in OWL, tell us the rung, the foods you've introduced and how/when you increased your carbohydrate intake. Maybe it's all good, but it doesn't hurt checking.

Well doen on those 13 pounds lost already

Did you check your metabolic resistance to weightloss after the first 14 days?

It may be there is no need to still be on induction and you could move to OWL instead

If you are still on induction your net carbs should be no more than 20 with 'most' from your veggies, so well done on eating those veggies but not so well done on eating over the 20 net carbs

Though if you are getting most of those 30 net carbs from veg I imagine you must be eating more like an OWL rung 1 amount. We usually see people complaining that using only 3 cups of veg on induction doesn't get them anywhere near 10 net carbs, let alone 30!!

Have you listed your menus including quantities in our 'Review my Menu' forum in case there is something amiss with your food choices for induction?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

What phase of Atkins are you in at the moment? Still Induction? OWL? If OWL, what rung?

You really have to read the book (Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002) to learn how to do Atkins correctly. There are also sticky threads on top of the OWL forum, which you should read. It is totally expected for Atkins not to work when you are not doing it as it's supposed to be done.

If you increase your carbs during OWL, you have to increase them by maximum 5 g of net carbohydrate per week. So in the second week you could have had maximum 25 net carbs, while in the fourth week you can have maximum 30. However, the 5 g that have to be added should be added to the average number of net carbohydrates you had been eating in Induction. If you had only 3 cups of vegetables and over half of your net carbs came from vegetables (as the book says it should) then your net carbs were below 20.

It is also preferable to either introduce a new food per week or to increase your carbs, but not both. Otherwise you will have problems figuring out what stalled you -- the new food or the extra carbs.

I'm not sure why you think Crystal Light is superior to diet sodas, but it isn't. It can stall you just the same since they are both sweetened with aspartame and contain a bunch of unpronounceable ingredients.

You should also consume no more than 3 servings of sweetened food/drink per day. For drinks, a serving is usually 8 oz.

It depends on the ingredients in the bread. If the ingredients are allowed during the OWL Rung you're on, then the bread is "legal". 9 g of net carbohydrate per slice sounds a lot to me -- since new foods have to be added in 5 net carbs amounts, you'd have to limit yourself to 1/2 slice per day. The Nature Own's bread you are talking about is probably the Sugar Free 100% Whole Grain Wheat that is not allowed before OWL Rung 9, because it contains wheat. By the way, Nature Own's Double Fiber Wheat is lower in net carbs (5 g per slice), although it is still not allowed before OWL Rung 9.

Peanuts can be introduced during OWL Rung 3. Check the book to see in what quantity you can have them.

Whether you are in OWL or not doesn't really depend on how much weight you've lost, but on the foods and net carbs you are consuming.

A rung is a step on a ladder, so on Atkins, a Rung is a "step" on the Carbohydrate Ladder. The Carbohydrate Ladder is something Dr. Atkins talks about in DANDR, so go read the book to understand what we're talking about.
