  • Entertaining Atkins Stories?

I don't know if there is another place for this topic but I got to thinking last night that I'd like to hear anyones amusing Atkins-related stories.

This came to mind after I had a phone conversation with my mom where I came out of the Atkins closet to her. I told her I had made it through the first week and everything was going well and I have no sugar cravings but sometimes I'm afraid they'll crop up. She was very supportive and then we moved onto the subject of my little parrot. I mentioned that I had purchased a banana for him and she exclaims, "ARENT YOU AFRAID YOU'LL EAT HIS BANANA?!"

HA! Just the mental image I got from going mad with desire over a banana...

    Okay. Anyone else?
I like my milk raw, my eggs pastured and my beef grass-fed.

That WAS a funny mental image! Fighting your parrot for his banana.

LOL....yes, us atkinites are a bunch of carb-starved freaks stealing fruit from our pets!

I have one...I started a couple weeks before my birthday. A friend of mine at work...who struggles with her weight and I watch her repeatedly making the same mistakes with WW over and over again...wanted to buy me a birthday present. She said she was at the grocery store and saw all kinds of Atkins products and wanted to make me a gift basket full of shakes and bars! I politely said thank you for the thought, but this diet is more about whole foods and that I really had no use for the bars and shakes.

That is something that really bothers me about those products being available...it gives people the wrong idea about this diet.

        Started: 3/2/09

        ~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190

        Realistic Final Goal: 190
        Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

rajenki, it's really good that she let you know before she bought them, so you could graciously decline the gift!
