  • Advice Please!!!

    Hey everyone!

I haven't been on the board for ages - about 2 months. Had some personal stuff going on (blah blah).

I tried to stay on plan as much as I could and to be honest, I did really well. My downfall was not eating enough (especially veggies), not as much exercise and a few glasses of wine here and there.

I put on 10lbs but have now lost that and am back at the gym and a determined clean plan... I just need a bit of advice...

I had moved up to Dairy on OWL - which I was not enjoying (feeling sick and bloated) but was giving it time and trying all dairy avenues. Even though I have tried to be on plan as much as I could I have been "off" as such. My question is shall I do two week induction and start OWL again?

I am doing a 5k Race for Life in 4 weeks which is a huge achievement for me even entering, let alone doing - so I would really like to be fully back on plan this week.

Any advice would be so appreciated!

    Missed you all!

    Janie xx

    Re: Advice Please!!!

Bethany, you can skip any rung. I know too little about dairy intolerances to say a peep about them, but they don't seem to agree with you, so hey, just skip them. I am quite frankly most likely going to stay 'parked' on the berry rung and just not worry about any other rungs, and add them back very carefully in maintenance. I am not interested in drinking, I know there is no way I can eat only 1/4 of any kind of legume at a time, I miss pears but would probably overdo any kind of fruit, and I am happier eating leafy veggies than I would be eating starchy veggies. I will probably very cautiously add some grains in pre-maintanence.

But no rung is mandatory. (I take that back, I would think the veggie rung is mandatory as you need the extra fiber in OWL for sure.)

I see nothing in your post that would suggest you need to go back to induction. My advice would be regress to OWL rung one for a week or so then skip to 'seeds and nuts' being very strict with how you add them in.. not every day and not every nut, you know? and watching portions.

Congrats on signing up to race, represent us well! We'll be pulling for you!

Thanks so much! That is really what I thought was right for me but just wanted to be reassured. I am still so determined and focused - and as much as life had just thrown a huge cream pie in my face, I didn't turn to food as I would have before. It was more circumstance that took me off plan.

Happy Sunday and thanks for the advice x

        Hi
LadyB - nice to see you back!!!!

I think if I went off plan for a while and out of ketosis for sure, I would do induction and then jump into OWL. It would depend how close to plan you were.

Make sure I have read this right.. .you went off for a while and went back on, (in which I assumed you did induction) then was on Dairy owl rung. Liv's reply is making me wonder if I misnderstood.

If you didn't do induction after being 'off' then I agree, you need to do induction again. But I am thinking you already did that since you lost the 10 pounds you had regained.

Sorry, I have confused you - I went back on induction and lost the 10lbs I put on, just wanted to check that I could carry on with OWL as I had been doing...

            Good to be back!!!
