  • ONE CARB BREAD! Can it be true?

Okay, I have seen the link for the Julian bread with 1 carb. Is this for real?
I mean with 14 servings I could "legally" eat the whole loaf in a day if I wanted. (don't think I would though)
I would like to try this stuff but it looks pretty pricey to me and I have had NO luck at all in making a loaf bread from Elizellen's recipe. Mine just won't rise.
So has anyone tried this bread by the Julian bakery company.

Hi Donna - have not seen you around for a while. You are still seeking that perfect low carb bread? I think this bread was discussed in the recipe section. Let's see if I can find the link

LOL Liv. Yes, I am still looking for that magic truly low carb bread!
I have been gone a while I guess. I've been so busy around here. But I am still on Atkins. I am losing slowing and most weeks nothing at all but at least I'm not gaining!

      Good to be back!

Have you tried the Revolution roll recipe (eggs, cream of tartar, cream cheese/mayo)?

I used to make 'bread' with it by spreading it out instead of dolloping it into bun shapes. It was a bit 'fragile' but if toasted on each side under the grill it holds together better.

Once I reached the 3rd OWL rung I added ground almonds to it and it makes a firmer slice.

Actually I have tried them. They were great! I also use your recipe for the bread with flax meal and I make 9 mini loaves. They are great sliced in half and buttered or used for sandwiches. I love the nuttiness of the flax.

I would love to find a whole slice bread for a yummy grilled cheese sandwich! YUM!

Try making a flat rectangular 'slab' on a baking tray instead of the mini loaves then slicing it into smaller sections of whatever size you want your slices to be

Re: ONE CARB BREAD! Can it be true?

I recieved 2 loaves yesterday evening via UPS (ordered Monday @ 5pm but I live in L.A.) and it's a dream come true! To say it could be "lifechanging" may be a bit much but for anyone fiendin' for heavy, crusty, starchy goodness (like I was!) it surely fits the bill! Yes, it's pricey, 8 bucks for 14 slices, but that's only a little over a buck a sammie if you can even finish 2 slices. I just ate my b-fast of "cereal" (last night I oven toasted a buttered and diced slice of the cin/raisin loaf for 20 mins at 250) It looked like tiny shredded wheat squaares. The texture was perfect for cereal, crunchy first then chewy even down to the last bits but the taste was a little too much like toast. Next time I'll omit the butter & try a little coconut oil, sweetner & cinnamon to see if it works. It's very filling and with a half cup of CC milk a super low carb HEALTHY b-fast!...LOVED IT!!!

I can see wonderful garlic croutons, bread crumbs, custardy bread pudding and ???? in the future!

edited to add: OOOOPS! I see this is a thread re: INDUCTION. Soooo sorry to post my experiences with this bread. It's label claims one carb per serving (13g. carbs, 12g fiber) but is clearly NOT INDUCTION FRIENDLY as it contains grains....my bad! (I stumbled upon this thread by accident & came in through the "back door")...carry on!

                Elizellen,

That looks good for a person who doesn't like bread but on sandwiches! I will search for the recipe in the recipe section!
