AhhhH! Weight Gain

  • AhhhH! Weight Gain

    Okay so, I have been back on Atkins for officially 3 weeks now and I have lost a total of 19 point something pounds. Well the beginning of the third week (April 13th) I started adding into my diet low Carb mission tortilla's which are 7 net carbs..I would only have one a day. I cannot think of anything else that has changed...oh and I have been working out doing about 30 minutes of cardio for 2 weeks around 3 to 4 times a week. Well today I weighed myself and it showed a 1.6 Gain!!!! I freaked out a little bit because I don't understand why or what is going on. I weigh on the same day every week (Tuesday) at around the same time ..give or take an hour. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it? And no its not the TOM thankfully.

    Also side note, yesterday I was hanging out with friends and had the following ....an egg burrito with American cheese in a low Carb tortilla... bar b q beef (no bbq sauce) ...smoked sausage. I also drank a diet Snapple ...which since I have started I haven’t drank any liquids with aspartame until yesterday. Okay sorry for running on..Thanks for any help!

    Tortillas are not to be introduced until Rung 9. There is a very good reason that Dr. Atkins structured the carb ladder in OWL the way that he did. Many people have trouble with the grains, and it is the last rung in OWL. I have been in Maintenance since 11/11/07, and I still avoid grains... they just don't agree with the "thin" me. I would suggest following the OWL plan to the letter, so you can discover exactly which foods you can and cannot have.

      Thanks so much for the advice, I guess I just remember eating the lc tortilla's back when I did atkins the first time..but now that I think of it I didn't touch them for at least a few months and even then it was maybe once or twice a week vs. everyday! I am going to cut them out for a while until my body adjusts better. Also...can you tell me where to find the info on the Rungs???

        Well... that is a very detailed and specific process. Our board is based upon the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, so I would definitely get a copy of that ASAP and read it. In the mean time, we have excellent resources here on the board. Make sure to read the "stickies" at the top of the OWL Forum - fantastic explanations there! Also, spend some time in the OWL forum, reading posts. I'll bet that you get a lot out of them... and when you think of a question, make sure to post there... lots of great folks, who are willing to help.
