I found a tortilla called Extreme Wellness. The label says 5 carbs, 12 grams of fiber. Since you subtract fiber from carbs to get net carbs that would leave the carb count a negative. Is it ok to have that during induction?

Remember to check the ingredients on everything you eat - nothing that isn't on the 'acceptable food list for induction' should be listed. If it is...don't eat it

i wouldnt call it blown! you're still eating better than you were before arentcha?
everyone makes mistakes. just today i realized for the last week i'd been eating 2 cups of something that was on the 1 cup list, because i hadn't double checked it i just thought i remembered it right. i'd rather know the problem and be able to fix it right away than to be not losing or gaining and not know why! now you know, and now you can fix it!
you can make bread-like foods using flax that are induction friendly if you go look around in the food forums, but if your tortillas have wheat etc which i assume they do, just remember you can have them once you get into the right rung.

It's not possible to have negative carbs. Even with things like ground flax seed that has almost equal carbs and fiber only cancel out the carbs from the flax meal itself. There are hidden carbs in those tortillas.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

? I understand the no-negative-carbs thing, but once at the proper rung, can (should) we count these as 0 carbs? If not, what should we look for to avoid this kind of thing??

Once you are on the grain rung(they contain wheat & 6 other grains) you can eat them, but you can't count them as zero carbs. They have 5 grams of carbs.

To avoid this kind of thing, read everything in the ingredient list and ignore everything on the front of the package. Get a magnifying glass to read the small print. Make sure you know what each ingredient really is. They hide sugar, MSG and other bad stuff under false names. You will see names like "evaporated cane juice" to describe table sugar.

I did some research and since these are not made in the USA, they have already had the fiber deducted. The carbs listed are after deducting the fiber and then the fiber is listed separately.

Ahh-that makes sense. Thank-you for the clarification.

As Sunny indicated, you may eat them when you get to the appropriate rung, which is Rung 9 (grains).
