  • Just venting

    I work at our state tax department. It was just lucky that I got this job through my employment agency. So, I'm sitting at my work space, opening mail and every time I look up someone is bringing in something to eat. How nice you may say. I suppose it is, to an extent. The day before yesterday, the special assistant to the commissioner brought in what must have been 15 dozen homemade cookies. Not even an hour later someone else came in with two boxes of Krispy Kream donuts. Nothing healthy! Ever! Yesterday, another supervisor brings us a huge bag of those mini candy bars. So we'd have "plenty of energy" to get the job done that we have to do this time of year. I just kept on thinking I wish someone would bring in a huge meat and cheese tray.
    I am proud to say, however, that I have not touched any of these evil concoctions! I snacked on boiled eggs and pork rinds later in the afternoon. So I'm giving myself a ...... Thanks for letting me rant for a little bit.

      Hiya Mrs Chesterdogg...i know what you mean,iwork a call centre and every single day the pass all sorts of sweet junk around.
      Funny thing is i am not at all tempted,i only have to look at the people passing them around and most of them are overweight,probably addicted to sugar.

      I would just say to have a nice salad and cheeses waiting for lunch

        Maybe you can start a trend and take in some healthier snacks?

          Great job on resisting temptation, you must be quite proud of yourself! No one said blazing trails is easy...

            i completely agree...good job...i hate that some people at work constantly...constantly are offering and eating and pigging out on the absolute worst carb foods at my job...
            free bagel fridays and there is always spare free sandwiches put out after big meetings...
            so i know exactly how you feel...

              We have a similar problem at my job - except everyone seems to eat WW or low fat, so their idea of 'healthy' treats are things like raisin oatmeal cookies, or low fat muffins........

              It is crazy the amount of extra food that is consumed by treats at work!

                I work directly across the hall from our cafeteria. The smell of fries from 11:00 to 2:00... ARGH!

                1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
                what the rungs mean to me:
                rung 1 - more veggies
                rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
                rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                rung 4 - berries, melon
                rung 5 - wine -
                rung 6 - beans, hummus
                rung 7 - other fruits
                rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
                rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
                (on to pre-maintenance)

                  Thanks for all the encouragement everyone. I am kind of proud of myself for not giving in and eating all that stuff. Before, oh say about three weeks ago, I would have dived in all of that stuff and had my part of it. But, it got to where I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired.
