Going to a friends to watch some movies later and I was wondering what Atkins snacks I could bring with me. I was thinking of beef jerky but frankly I am kind of sick of that snack. Any ideas?

Re: Going to movies soon! What can I bring
Are you eating nuts and seeds yet? Almonds are fantastic...
I cube up a little cheese, maybe some salami. If it's not at a theatre, your options are even more endless....chicken wings, celery and cream cheese...
I actually don't need to munch through a movie though. I just have the snacks with me for when/if I get hungry. It might be healthier to create a new habit of not associating movies with mindless munching. I don't think that's healthy even for the people whose bodies can tolerate endless amounts of popcorn.

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

Re: Going to movies soon! What can I bring
What if you just drank bottled water and didn't eat at the movies?
I'm going to try and say this without sounding judgemental... but it may not come off that way. I apologize in advance if it does... Isn't part of the reason we overeat because we're eating out of habit instead of because we're hungry? If you're going to the movies, go after you've had a nice meal and just relax and watch the movie. It won't be easy, movie theaters tend to smell like hot buttered love ya know... but if you can stick to Atkins, you can make it through a 2 hour movie without eating.
I've been trying to break my kids of the gotta-eat-at-the-movies habit, and it was harder than breaking myself of that habit!
) So I bribe them with cash. *terrible mother lol* Maybe you can bribe yourself with a non-food treat in lieu of snacking at the movies?

Re: Going to movies soon! What can I bring
Mitzi, you are so right! My boys and I go to the movies a couple times each summer and I still can't get past the HABIT of eating at the flix. I am not hungry when I go, but I guess the smell of popcorn and watching other people munch is what makes me feel like I need something too! Funny thing is 80% of what people eat is gone before the opening credits! LOL
I would suggest you microwave two slices of cheese, cut into squares, and take "cheesits" and get a diet coke for the initial movie munch. Once the movie starts you won't miss it (assuming it is a good one).

Re: Going to movies soon! What can I bring
When I go I usually take a baggie of cheddar cheese cubes and some pepperoni. It makes me not want popcorn as much!
I'm going to the movies tonight too but I'm going to Cinnebarre, which you order food and they bring it to you while the movie is playing and they actually have a few things that are okay on Atkins.
