  • 2 Jr. Whoppers with cheese please!

I ate 2 Jr. Whoppers, no ketchup and I took the bun off and it was such a nice change of pace from the grilled chicken I eat everyday.

It was satisfying and tasted like they used, minus the bread.

Does anyone else eat fast food with some modification? Is this safe? I didn't gain, I still lost 1/2 a pound since yesterday.

personally no. i swore off fast food long before i started atkins. i'm pretty sure they use processed cheese slices and meat fillers, but depends where you go.

Just McDonalds, because its safe for celiacs, so its safe for Atkins I had an angus burger yesterday, not sure actually if that has any fillers, but it looked so much better than a 1/4 pounder with cheese! I don't eat fast food often, yesterday we had a crazy busy day and suddenly it was 6 pm and my whole family was starved, so we hit the drive thru.

The only time I ever eat fast food is if I am late and can not have breakfast, so I get eggs and sausage. I think this once you are fine, but the trans fats that are loaded within this food isn't good. I would only go for fast food when absolutely necessary. Congrats on the losses!

I have had a burger king burger on the quick. You know you can order it low carb and they'll serve it to you without the bun.

I'm sure that doing fast food occasionally would be fine. If you'd like to eat a 'burger' more often, you could make it at home...then you'd know exactly what is in it. If you bought pre-shaped (the meat dept@ my supermarket makes these of lean gr. beef) or frozen (check the ingredients) patties it would be an 'easy' meal, if not 'fast'. Plus you could experiment with different 'toppings' - vary the cheese, have bacon, mushroom, whatever you like...mmm swiss cheese, mushroom & bacon...I know what's for lunch here today.

I didn't know that. My 2 year old ate the bun like a hamburger and she rarely eats anything so I'll keep getting the buns when I need something fast on the go and she can eat the bun.

I did this last week also because we were out all day so it isn't something I will do often. I didn't know mayo was allowed so last week it was mustard only.

I do buy jalapeno and cheese stuffed burgers, walmart and aldi carry them. Those are delicious too! Your lunch sounds good, I've also got a box of Flander brand patties, there is about 20 or 30 in there for $6 (at walmart too) but the taste got bad after a while. I'll try some steak burgers with swiss and bacon, that's going to happen this week, thanks for the idea. I had chicken for breakfast and that's turning into yuck fast for me.

You are probably right about the processed cheese but I don't know what meat fillers are. What are they? I can do without the fast food cheese next time.

Fillers could be anything non meat added to the burgers. It is not uncommon to do that so we have to be careful when we select meat like that. They could add grains, sugars, transfats, whatever.

Everything you eat is bad for you :P
I mean everyone has something to say about everything and why your doomed and imaginary fairies are coming down from the sky and the end of the world is coming. Bla bla bla .
I could eat Carrots and lettuce and drink water for the rest of my life and someone would find some Bull*S fad about how people who eat carrots and lettuce are gonna die from rabbittitis or some crazy (follow the sheep) Rumor.

So that said fast food is probably bad :P
Unless someone else says its not , then its good for you.

I don't think fast food is necessarily bad. It is just a matter of knowing what you are eating and be conscious of your choices. Most fast food places have posted their nutritional information and with a little bit of research we can make good choices I think.

Man... if I was gonna try to stay low carb at McD's, I'd probably have to order 20 burgers and just eat the meat. No way I could afford that.

Well I could not eat 20 but I know what you mean... Not for daily eating but OK in a pinch. The salad it good too. Have to be careful with their salad dressing though. If I am on the go - travelling - I sometimes have some revolution rolls in my bag.

I will research the nutritional information.

Doesn't McDonald's have a dollar menu? That's why I like Burger King, the Jr. Whoppers are only a dollar each. I could never eat 2 with a bun but I can without a bun!
