I'm trying Fitday, which looks like a great tool. But is there a setting on it or something where I can change it to track net carbs? The pie chart that it's showing has total carbs, not subtracting the fiber.

Re: Fitday question
No, you cannot make FitDay track net carbohydrates -- you'll have to do the math yourself, by subtracting the amount of dietary fiber from the total carbohydrates.Originally posted by allieI'm trying Fitday, which looks like a great tool. The pie chart is okay showing total carbs. The approximate carbohydrate percentage you should aim for during Induction, 5%, is a total carbohydrate percentage. The number is not written in blood though -- it's okay if you have some days with 3% carbs and some with 7%.

Re: Fitday question
Allie, have you "told" Fitday yet to count the fiber for you? It doesn't automatically do it. If you figured out how to do that already,
If you (or anyone else out there) haven't gotten Fitday to count fiber for you, this is how you do it: On the left side of the page, is a place that you can click on to set a nutrition goal. Go there, and set a fiber goal... that is done by setting a minimum and maximum daily fiber amount. It doesn't matter which numbers you plug in... I have my minimum set as 1 and my maximum as 50... the numbers there aren't important. I just put them in, to get Fitday to count for me. After doing this, the fiber grams will show with the other totals for carbs, protein, fat. Just subtract the fiber grams from the carb grams, and you have your net carbs.
Good luck to you!

Re: Fitday question
Yes Mitzi is the best
I was just going to say that the pie chart is actually doing net carbs because it is percentage of calories and the fibre has no calories.

Re: Fitday question
Not really. You do not have to eat 20 net carbs. 14 for example is also fine. You should be eating 3 cups of vegetables, with maximum 1 cup of these coming from the "Other Vegetables" list. Then you select the other foods you eat (from the Induction list) in such a way that over half of your net carbohydrates come from vegetables. If the total comes out at 14 net carbs or 12 or 16, it's okay.Originally posted by allie View PostI think I'm getting this thing figured out. If it says I've had 20 carbs, I can still subtract my fiber and have a few more if I need to as long as I stay at 20 net, right?

I have set up a custom nutrition goal for sodium...but it doesn't show up in the grid on the food tab-is that what you meant? I would *love* to get that working for net carbsOriginally posted by mitzimarie View PostAllie, have you "told" Fitday yet to count the fiber for you? It doesn't automatically do it. Re: Fitday question
Hey, when you first click on any food you want to add to your day, go down and look at the carb total, if it has fiber and its worth the effort, then customize it. go "customize this food" and then subtract the fiber from the total carbs and enter under total under carbs, (delete fiber -enter 0), save your new food with name such as "Onion NC" (net carbs), just so you know which ones you have customized-

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09
50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09
Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.
