I would try induction for three days (Fri/Sat/Sun)
Eat 10 carbs or less...
Drink 2-3 LITERS of water...
Eat 5 times during the day...watch weight of food.
See how that works.
Perhaps even cut the exercise in half.
Weigh yourself every day...morning.
Let me know if that works.Starting Weight: 237 (2.28.05)
Current Weight: 216 (4.1.05)
Goal #1: 200 by 5/1/05
Goal #2: 190 by 7/1/05
Goal #3: 180 by 9/1/05

that's great that you lost 40 pounds already...looks like you did it in 6 months, which would be close to 7lbs. a month. How long did it take for you to gain the extra weight initially? I ask because many people tell me (I study nutrition and Exercise Physiology) that they're unhappy with their progress in losing weight - i.e., not fast enough. Most of these people had an average of an extra 30-40 lbs. they gained over the course of 5-10 years. I always say to them that it took them 7 years to put the weight on, so it wouldn't be unrealistic to take a number of years until they shed the lbs.
I would say the key is perseverance - you're almost there and whatever you've been doing has certainly worked thus far.
Have you taken any other measurements of your body? You might be improving your body composition, although you're not losing weight.
Also, are you doing the same routine on the treadmill and what intensity are you working out at? A great tool I find is getting a heart rate monitor and trying to work out in a range that really gets your HR up, but that you can sustain for the 45 minutes. That way, if you're improving your fitness level, you'll continually have to increase the intensity of the treadmill (either speed or incline) to get to the same HR.

Everyone will have different opinions -- I am used to having AMAZING success on this diet...which a lot of people tend to do...but a lot of people get frustrated and grab that bag of nacho's and eat them right before they go to bed.
Stay ahead of the game...try things....experiment...figure out what makes u tick.Starting Weight: 237 (2.28.05)

so how are your inches doing remember stalls are 4 weeks of no inches nor pounds not just no pounds.
Cut out the cheating and see what that does for your weight loss. If youarer in ketosis there is now reason to go back to OWL use the OWL tools Doc Atkins gave us if you added a food group just before the stoppage? If so drop it and see what happens in a week. Cut your carbs back 5 net for a week and see if no movement drop another 5 and see. OWL is the great food experiment adn you need to see if it was the last addditon of carbs that stopped your weight loss or the food group additons.

"Cheating is the kiss of death". "One bite WILL hurt".
Do those words ring a bell? They should if you've read DANDR. Dr. Atkins himself said them.
You're sabotaging your success. How bad do you want to lose those last pounds?
Its about perseverence, discipline, determination. You've got to have it to get to goal and believe me, you'd better get used to it once you get to goal too because maintenance is where the rubber meets the road ...
You simply cannot go back to eating junk foods and expect to maintain your weight loss. Yes, an occasional indulge during maintenance is okay, but you simply cannot continue to cheat .......... this woe is FOREVER not just until you hit your goal.
My advice would be do a CLEAN INDUCTION for a week, then slowly add back in the GOOD CARBS and ELIMINATE ALL CHEATING.
Make this your mantra: "If its to be, its up to ME!"

I have to agree with the others here. Many other people on this board who are "only human" do not cheat. Tell yourself that those foods you cheat with are NOT permitted, then when you are at your weakest and think you might grab one of those foods, have a small bowl of berries with heavy cream. I keep bags of frozen blackberries and raspberries for these very times.

No Weigh Until Christmas Day!!!

I'll chime in and ask also -- have you been measuring yourself? There have been quite a few months that I haven't lost any pounds, but I'd lose a lot of inches. One month I lost 8 inches! Also, how is your water intake?
I know stalls are frustrating, just stay determined, eat right, continue exercising. The pounds will start coming off again.Started 4/18/04

River have you had your thyroid checked recently is it in the optimal range. With up being Hypo it's even more important not to cheat, I find it hard to lose weight but, I work my but off. HAve you been doing the exact same thing for more then 6 week if so that could be why your body is not losing. The body is amazing and adaptable and if it does the same thing day in day out it doesn't need to adapt of lose anyhting. I would suggest trying something new. Add more resistance, maybe go a bit faster, circut training, you may even want to add soem resistance training to get those muscles burning more fat. It is going to take you a while to lose the 15 pounds you ahve done so well and I know you can do it.
Now get back on the horse and JUST DO IT. I am so Proud of you.

Please Help
Thanks to all that replied. I want to share some info cause some of you were asking specific questions. I do have a thyroid problem(hypo). The good news is about 2 months ago I started taking T3T4 and it seems to be working. As for how long it took for me to add on the pounds, well it's been since I was diagnosed with thyroid condition about 27 years ago. When I was 30 I weighed 114 lbs. I am now 57! :no During that time I gained my HW was 183. I guess most of us go through that :anger My water intake is about 67.6 ozs. I'm sure that is not enough. Also I hope that I am doing correct exercise on the treadmill. Someone mentioned cutting back. Is there a reason for that? I hope I can keep up my motivation as well as you. Thanks for all the great advice.....I CAN DO THIS!! :icondancerivera11-female 5'2"

Me again
I forgot to mention in my reply that I do lose inches, but not much. I'm lucky if I lose 1/2 inch in 3-4 weeks. As an example; so far I have lost 9" from my bust, 9" from my waist, and 10" from my hips(stomach). I PROMISE NOT TO CHEAT!! I'm going to get back on the atkins band wagon. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated...Take Care :waverivera11-female 5'2"
