  • Low carb Bread

Okay here is the bottom line. I need bread.
I don't always have the time to make stuff (only at weekends) and so I need something to quick and easy to make like a sandwich.

So, Ive come across some low carb tortilla wraps which work out to be 3g of net carbs (11g carbs - 8g dietary fiber) per serving.

So my question is, should I go for it or not? (Btw, going to try revolution rolls when I get time).

Low carb tortilla wraps probably contain grains (check the ingredients) and are therefore not allowed before OWL Rung 9.

On induction lots of people use lettuce leaves as sandwich "bread" to roll fillings up in.
If you need flax to keep you "regular" during induction, you can make flax crackers with it. (ground flax, water, parmesan cheese... spread on parchment paper and microwaved until crisp). Not bread but nice as a base for cheese.

You are only allowed as much as needed to avoid constipation.

I didnt use them during my 2 weeks in induction but after that i ate them almost everyday for lunch. It was so much easier taking to work.Iv been on this for just over 2 months and have lost 22 lbs. They dont kick me out of induction so for me they are great. I started 193lbs now 171.

The lettuce wraps work pretty well. Another 'portable' lunch is sandwich meat wrapped around cheese/celery - that's no more work than making a sandwich

The tortillas are not legal on induction.

My suggestion would be to try legal alternatives until you work your way up the rungs. My first time around, I added wheat products too quickly and it basically threw me off plan even though it was only a little bit. This time around I'm adding foods that used to give me cravings and stalls the last time around with much success. As you ease into non-induction foods, your body adjusts. The effects are different if you wait it out. Its not that long to wait.

you dont -need- bread. you -want- bread. its a craving. stay on induction as its written and you'll soon be able to tell the difference between need and want. most of us had no idea what our bodies actually need before, a craving=hunger=omnomnomnom. thats not how it should be though! when my brain is going 'omfg i'll die if i don't eat a brownie right this second' i drink some water, and ignore it, it goes away, and i'm rewarded with a weight loss the next day. So just ask yourself is it worth slowing down your progress for 5 minutes of texture in your mouth?

                  Use this bread:
Flax Bread Recipe - Low-Carb Focaccia-Style Flax Bread

It is zero net carb, 6 grams of protein (all omega3!!)
I put fresh garlic, basil, and top with parm.
Since I have been using this bread, I feel full, even though I am eating WAY less and my energy levels are through the roof.

I am making a cinnamon, sucralose version next!

                  Good luck

                    Amen!

Oxygen and water are NEEDS. Carb-laden chewy bread is a WANT. It does take us a while to see the difference.

it does, tom. it takes some of us years of trying and failing and not knowing why to get it through our heads that the reason we fail is because we go 'i feel so deprived' instead of 'i feel so empowered'

the one-liners just pour out sometimes
but thats why my posts say that i've been a member here since 05. its taken what... 4 years for it to sink in for me. first time around, i went from 212-180. then 'life got in the way', as the excuse goes (because thats what it is). i went from 180 to 250 in under 2 years. that is a LOT of weight to gain in that short a time. a few half-hearted attempts thrown in here and there, never commiting fully.

this time, it clicked. and if someone whos on their first or even second time around will read this and figure out that doing it -right- could save you YEARS of trying, failing, hurting, quitting, cheating, crying, and being unhappy in your body then my jobs done!

Not quite. The author states this in the nutritional info: "
Nutritional Information: Each of 12 servings has less than a gram of effective carbohydrate (.7 grams to be exact) plus 5 grams fiber, 6 grams protein, and 185 calories."

So if you eat more than 1/12 of the recipe, it's more than 1 carb.

Also, for Induction, there is a limit to how much flax, psyllium and wheat bran one can eat for fiber supplementation. 1/12 of this recipe is within that daily limit.

In other words, you can't eat this liberally because it does have carbs and you do need to pay attention to the flax limitations.
