Does anyone have a good exercise regimen? The treadmill is getting old.

    Re: Exercise

TurboJam is fun if you want interesting cardio, Walk Away the Pounds tapes are good if you want to not have to learn 'moves' but just burn calories and sweat, Callanetics is incredible if you want to reshape your body, esp. lower body and tone your abs.

What would you like to most do with your regimen? Do you want to learn strength training, rev the metabolism, increase flexibility?

If you register on Fitness magazine's site, they have lots and lots of video for different exercises.

I just want to burn calories and get in shape. I am 51 and my body is getting flabby. What are callanetics?

          Re: Exercise

Oh I was hoping you would ask! Callanetics is an OLD exercise that uses tiny movements working muscles deeply to reshape the body. The original Callanetics was a VHS tape from 1986 and it has also been made available on dvd. It is called Callanetics, look 10 years younger in 10 hours. Then there are updated versions called Callanetics Evolution and CardioCallanetics, and short versions for quick workouts.

In a little over two weeks after starting Callanetics I had completed the workout 8 times and reshaped my body as above. In that time I have lost hardly any weight, but things are tightening all over. It is wonderful for posture and back alignment as well.

I got my materials from Amazon, some new, some used. I even got a VHS tape still sealed in the packaging never used from the 80's. I like both '10 years in 10 hours' and Callanetics Evolution, but my daughter likes Evolution so that is what we use.

I have never felt sore after Callanetics, but quite limber and relaxed. I can 'feel' that my muscles have worked but it has never been painful, I think because of all the stretching. I am quite addicted now.
