  • Weight scale frustrations

I was getting frustrated with my old weight scale.Everytime i stepped on it it gave me a + or - 2 lb difference so never new what my real weight was.I bought a new more expensive one after being on my diet for 3 weeks and losing about 10 lbs.Stepped on the new one and to my shock and frustration the danm thing was 5 lbs heavier than the old one.Went over to my friends and tried his and to make thinks worse his showed another couple lbs heavier.I told him his scales are busted, put my new scales away in a cupboard and im back to my old unreliable scale but at least its showing me losing weight, lol The lesson in this.Stick to one scale.

    Re: Weight scale frustrations

Sorry to hear that you're so frustrated, Bill!

LOL... the fact remains, you still lost 10 pounds.

If you would have had the new scale for your first weigh-in, it would have shown that you started 5 pounds heavier than your old scale started you. The net loss would be the same...

Yep, it is better to stick with one scale. But when you do have to change, just step on the old one and note the weight. Then step on the new one, see what the difference between the two are. If the scales are off, just do the math.

For example - say I weigh 125 on my current, old scale. I get a new scale, and it shows me at 130. That doesn't mean that I lost 85 pounds instead of 90... it means that I really started at 220 instead of 215... the net loss of 90 pounds is still the same.

    10 pounds is great!

Mitzi is right - it really doesn't matter what you weigh - you still lost 10 pounds! Keep up the great work!

Just add 5 lbs to your start weight and you're good to go... I would use the newer and probably more accurate scale. How do they compare with the scale at your doctor's office?

                Re: Weight scale frustrations

Had to laugh at this one! Once you start a diet the scale is like a drug! YES, stick to one scale and never commit the crime of stepping on another between weigh ins! I work in a nursing home and pass by an electronic scale in the hall about 80 times a day. It tries it's best to suck me in like a tractor beam! But I resist, cause I know what my weight is on my home scale, and I know damn well that if I step on that one and it's higher my day is SHOT! 20 lbs rocks though dude! Keep up the good work and avoid evil imposter scales!
