  • I hope I don't get in trouble...

on another message board I post to (not diet related - but wedding related)...
someone posted about getting sick after she dotoxed herself of carbs...

so of course TONS of people replied back to her that "you NEEEEED carbs" "atkins is HARD" "KETOSIS IS BAD FOR YOU" etc...etc...

    so I replied saying this:
I truly am not starting anything here, but I just want to say that when you stop eating processed foods and sugar (including bread and pasta) - it really IS a healthy way to live. I've been on atkins for 4 months - following the rules - and it's NOT "no carb". I enjoy dairy, nuts/seeds, berries and tons of veggees, and after a few more pounds I'll be eating legumes and beans again - i eat around 30 g carbs per day. I've lost 22 pounds and have NEVER felt better in my life.

that's not verbatim what i posted back - but seriously - it just steams me up when i see people who just aren't INFORMED. And I understand that's what it is. They are just honestly "ignorant" of the rules of atkins and only know what the mainstream has told them...but I just HAD to say something - so I hope I don't get in trouble...

People never judge when someone is eating low fat, so I don't know what gives! One of my BIL's always makes a comment "its not healthy to give up an entire food group" but I don't have a clue what food group I have given up. Sugar is a food group? Who knew!

just keep on keepin on keriann. some people have absolutely no sense, and they want to blame the plan and not their incompitence in following it.

Re: I hope I don't get in trouble...

i just checked - and someone who posted after me said, and I quote "if you're going to give up carbs, you must give up ALL carbs"

yeah - i'm not going to start a fight. I said my piece/peace and hopefully she'll listen...

But it does suck - when someone spouts off about low-fat everyone's like "oh yeah - that's SO healthy - THAT'S the way to go!" yet someone says 1 think about low-carb and they totally attack.

Course now that I myself know better, it's not surprising only cuz i already know how bass-ackwards this world is - why would dieting be any different?

doesn't anyone realize that what "they've" always said is what is making the world fat?!!!

oh well. all that matters, i guess, is that we here all know better!!!!

I know - no matter WHAT i post or say about how good atkins is to someone who believes in low-fat that it's a losing battle (as i've been there myself). all I can do is sit back and feel...i'm not sure - humor? pity? nothing?...

I guess it's just hard because since this is what I truly do believe in, and I KNOW how healthy it is - when people attack it's just human nature to want to "attack" back. I just want everyone on that other board to know that atkins is NOT evil...that giving up bad carbs and sugar is NOT giving up ALL carbs completely/totally...and that's exactly it, Claire, "SUGAR IS NOT A FOOD GROUP!" (i'm so putting that in my siggy! lol)

Re: I hope I don't get in trouble...

i remmber 3 or so years ago i posted about the atkins diet on some forums and i got attacked hard

dont let yourself get stressed out from the replys the people may say on them forums

in the past i got stressed out soo bad that i no longer wanted to talk about the atkins diet but now i see that i should not let people stress me out like that and that when i talk about the atkins diet i know i am doing good

remmber that you know you are doing good but most importantly God knows you are doing good so there is no point in letting some people stress you out

Yes, a while back I got in to a debate on another forum. I was so surprised at the misinformation that they fired back with. I finally got tired of it and left it. But it is so frustrating.
