  • diet rite, no flax needed

i've noticed something very weird this time around that never happened before. i'm a little wary of calling it a 'good' thing for fear of people trying it and messing themselves up, cause everyones different. but i figured i'd put it out there anyway and see what people make of it.
    **too much info warning, beware!**

a while back i had a diet rite (just plain cola flavor, if it matters or not i dunno). the next day, i had a major laxative effect. not painful, like no abdominal cramping, but very loose and probably ended up in the bathroom about 5 times that day.

fast forward a few weeks later, i'm back to the same ole once-every-2-or-3-days schedule, and so i thought hm... i wonder if that diet rite is what caused that effect. so i had one with dinner that night. the next day, same exact thing happened. nothing else in my diet was changed, and i was still drinking more than enough water through both times.

so i'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation happen. i don't think its anything to do with the splenda in it since i've used splenda in other things, albeit not often, so i suppose its just because i'm having a carbonated drink with all sorts of weird things it after going so long not drinking them. whats interesting is that with an effect like that i'd assume it would be painful and hurt my tummy... but there was really no cramping or pain with it at all. i remember the first time i did atkins years ago diet rites really hurt my stomach so i quit drinking them. i wonder what changed?

just fyi this was an expirement, and i dont recommend everyone go swig a bunch of diet rite lol. but i am interested to see what people make of this.

Interesting. I am sure they use liquid splenda in soft drinks, whereas I expect you use the granular form. I wonder what the difference would be? I haven't been drinking sodas so I don't know, is splenda the only sweetener in diet rite? No sugar alcohols at all? ask since a laxative effect is common with those.

There exists diet sodas that contain sweetener other than aspartame? I know diet Arizona ice tea is sweetened with Splenda, you can try some of that to see if you have the same effect.

Thanks for letting me in on the Diet Rite, my husband is a big diet soda pop drinker and I am trying to get him off of aspartame but Splenda is good. He is doing Atkins also and is have bowl movement issues so I will pick some up today and hopefully that will help him.

Hmmm, I will have to compare labels and see what the difference is from other drinks.

i dont really think its the sweetener, i think its the carbonation. unless i just have weird reactions to liquid splenda.
