ok last week i ran out of chicken and ended up eating sausage, which i've been avoiding since like week 3 (im in week 8 ) and i went up .8lbs.
so the bf ran by the store on his way over this weekend (aww) and got me some tilapia fillets and chicken etc. well, i have about 1/2 a chicken breast leftover since then... so i was eye-balling my tilapia for today. i open the box, and they arent filets. i kid you not, they're creepy little fish rectangles. i almost laughed myself silly at the unnatural state of my little fish bricks!
the packaging says natural filets with garlic/butter seasoning, so just to be sure i check the back of the box...
keep in mind, these aren't even breaded!! says "grilled tilapia, roasted garlic and butter"
tilapia, water, canola oil, salt, roasted garlic powder, modified corn starch, butter solids, natural flavor, spice, maltodextrin, parsley, hydroxypropyl, methylcellulose, monosodium glutamate, citric acid, nonfat milk , whey , xanthan gum, sodium caseinate, caramel color, sodium tripolyphosphate, enzyme modified butter, calcium hydroxide, annatto and paprika extract color, propyl gallate, carrageenan, ascorbic acid, tocopherol.
what the heck? does anyone else think its messed up that 'tilapia' is only 1 ingredient and is lost in a frigging ocean of words i dont even know how to pronounce? not to mention the 150mg of sodium in this stuff. needless to say i will not be eating this junk.
must read labels.... must read labels....
