  • Curry Powder?

Just a quick question - I have a large bag of this stuff and I'd love to use it ... any idea how to go about calculating the carbs in it? Curry Powder, Sweet

According to that link, which is where I purchased it last year, it's "Hand-mixed from: turmeric, coriander, cumin, ginger, nutmeg, fennel, cinnamon, fenugreek, white pepper, arrowroot, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and red pepper."

    Re: Curry Powder?

Fitday tells me that One tablespoon of currypowder has 3.7 carbs and 2.1 fiber. That would bake it 1.6 net carbs. I usually go with fitday if there is no info on the package.

Meh, I was afraid of that. Had looked at Fitday and thought that seemed a bit high. Thanks for your reply (and sorry it took me so long to get back here ... been a hectic couple'a days).

How much currypowder does your recipe use? When i make a curry I usually add about a tablespoon or so for 2 servings, which would not add much in the way of carbs to the meal.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I agree Elizellen. My first thought was MY GOODNESS! how much are they using? A couple of tablespoons does a nice sized curry.

<chuckle> I'm learning to cook for one here after nearly 20 years of cooking for more and hadn't taken that into account ... it's been probably 2 years since I've made a curry.

LOL, well then, not too worry---you won't be using cups full in your curry.

That's a relief! The ex always complained that I never used enough curry powder when that was all I could taste in the dish. Learning to cook to my own taste has been a real adventure sometimes. <giggle> To be completely honest, at this point I have no idea how much curry powder I'd like in, say, a chicken breast and some onions and asparagus, which is why I was kinda <gasp> at the carb count.

Sparrow <-- can be a bit daft sometimes
