    thank you for all your comments and support guys..its spurred me on again
    went out shopping and restocked on all the good stuff..probably getting a bit of caffeine withdrawal though,feeling kinda sluggish but im drinking plenty of water
    only one question though...is soya milk ok?
    nutritional info was 0.1g carbs per 100ml

      oh one other thing
      ive started taking L-carnatine..although im unclear what dosage i should be taking
      the book says it can take anything up to 500mg per day..im taking 150mg to start..
      anyone had any experience with this?

        Just to reiterate.....

        No peanuts
        No milk
        Cut back on the coffee,
        And finally, MAX 3 splenda per day.

        I also have issues with the ketosis strips though. I have max 2 splenda with my coffee, and use cream, I stay within the 20 carb per day limit and do 40 minutes of intense cardio 5 days a week. I limit my cheese intake to 3 oz per day, I eat my veggies....
        Lets say I am following the rules..
        The issue is that one day after the gym I may test my ketones and its dark red (I drink lots of water all day!) but This is great I want to see the red!
        Then the next morning, first pee of the day, its possibly a trace but looks more negative??? Whats up with that? It goes from ketones to negative all the time, but my diet doesn't change.

        OH the only thing I do, that may be affecting it is eat LOTS of pork rinds, LOL
        Thats been my main snack. They are really high in protein, and I think I heard that too much protein can convert to carbs or something? Is that true?
        I think I will lay off those for a week and see what happens.

          You should not test for ketosis first thing in the morning or after gym. The best time to test is about 2 hours after a meal. Also, do not wait more than 15 seconds to read the strip.

          Dr. Atkins wrote that excess protein will be converted into glucose, since protein cannot be stored as such.

          Besides protein, pork rinds have a lot of sodium. That may cause water retention issues and it is not good for your blood pressure either.

            No, soy milk is not 'legal' for Induction. The only soy product allowed during Induction is soy cheese (tofu), but it should be counted towards your 3-4 oz of cheese per day.

              i took everyones advice
              eating more veg..
              no caffeine at all..
              no nuts..
              lots and lots of water..
              getting a register now on the strips ,not major but its better than what it was..
              oh i bought caffeine free t-bags,would they be ok to use?

              p.s im not on the induction phase,i lost 14lbs in 14days on that..my diet hasnt changed since that 6 weeks ago and i just stopped losing weight..and i only added a little more carbs ,between 20-25g per day

                Yep. But don't count it towards your water intake.

                So you must be in OWL Rung 1 then, if you are eating 20-25 net carbs. Is this correct? In this case, the "extra" carbs should come from vegetables.

                About the ketostix. If they change color at all, you are in ketosis and that's all that matters. The ketone bodies concentration (aka nuance on the strip) can depend on things like amount of water drank, exercise, etc. Never test immediately after exercising or right after you wake up. The best time to do it is about 2 hours after a meal.

                  ive now put 3lbs on in the last 3 days since drinking all this water
                  and my diets been 100% clean

                    Pete, make sure that you weigh at the same time of day - I weighed 4.5lbs more before I went to bed last night than I did this morning. Most people recommend only weighing once a week. Also, you should be measuring.

                    Drinking more water actually prevents you from retaining water (yeah, I know its kinda backwards).

                      Also give your body a chance to adjust. It may be holding the water till it figures out what to do. Best thing is to weigh once a week because it can change up to five pounds in a day-heck even from hour to hour it changes.

                      And with the sticks, it doesnt matter what color as long as there any color. Doesn't mean you are burning more fat if it is darker--its like being pregnant: either you are or you arent. There is no "more" pregnant of your test shows more positive. Same with ketosis.

                        i have now stuck religiously to this for a week
                        no caffeine
                        no milk
                        loads of water
                        eating more veg(still within induction measurements)
                        3000mg of l-carnatine daily
                        absolutely no cheats or treats
                        and ive upped my training to 2hrs of running and weight lifting a day

                        i went into ketosis after 1 day and have stayed there ever since..great...
                        weighed myself this morning..absolutely no weight loss whatsover..
                        i honestly feel like throwing in the towel..i cannot cut back anything else
                        why? why? why?

                          Hiya

                          The one thing I can think of is (if all else is tried and tested) maybe because of your intense training, you might need to up your carbs to 25grams. It sounds like you are doing a lot of muscle building too which weighs more than fat...

                          Otherwise, it might be a thyroid, insuline resistant sitution.

                          Have you posted a daily menu of what you are eating. Maybe someone can spot something that might not be obvious to the rest. I remember one week I wasn't loosing and doing everything by the book, and didn't loose. Then I found out my mayo (which I was eating with everything) had starch in it.

                          Don't give in.. How you feeling in yourself and how are your measurements looking. One woman dropped three dress sizes and her scale stayed the same.

                            thank you for your quick response t.t ,appreciate it
                            my day would go something like this
                            9.00am breakfast,either bacon and eggs or cheese and meat omlette
                            11.00am either 1 hour run or swim burning about 500 calories
                            1.00pm 2 tins tuna with low carb salad and dressing(mayo normally)
                            5.00pm 3 skinless chicken breasts with broccoli and grated cheese,or pork chops or steak with mushrooms(either meal 1 or 2)
                            7.00pm gym for 1 hour weight-training,high intensity
                            9.00pm some chicken or pork..no sauce or dressing
                            as i said ..no coffee,no milk,loads of water

                            as for the fat versus muscle..i bought very complex scales that list..weight..b.m.i..water % in body..fat % in body and muscle % in body and none of these measurements are changing
                            i weigh 100kg at moment
