  • Question~

okay so I have been on the atkins diet for a total of 6 days today and I have to admit it does get easier each day...of course I have little fits that I want somthing sweet but I always keep my cool.lol Ive noticed that these past couple of days I dont feel as hungry...is that normal? in the begining I would always find myself starving but now I can eat like maybe once or twice a day and im done...and what I eat is not even that big either....I dunno...I have lost a total of 12 pounds and its great for a 6 day period. just wondering if anyone gets that way? I have one more question my boyfriend and I are on this diet together and we were talking maybe when the 14 days are over that we can a Treat day and I dont mean like being a pig all day either....like go to a restruant and have a normal meal with dessert and thats it maybe drink a coke...and thats it and go back to what we were doing...would that be a okay? Or would that set me back? I would like some input if you dont mind thanks a bunch!!!!

    Re: Question~

yes, losing your appetite is normal, unfortunately it comes back

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

      Re: Question~

Congrats on losing 12 lbs; keep up the good work!! The appetite suppressing effects of this diet is completely normal and a wonderful sign of ketosis! It's a great thing. Unfortunately this early into atkins I can absolutely NOT recommend a cheat day... or any cheats at all. It will certainly cause cravings and can very likely cause you undermine all the successes you already have had and will certainly knock you out of ketosis... hello hunger again. I can speak from experience, where a cheat day several years ago turned into two... turned into 3... turned into gaining back ALL the weight. As you move up the rungs on OWL you will be able to add more and more foods to your diet in a healthy way without going out of ketosis. In the meantime, there is no reason you can't treat yourself with a fabulous dinner out with the bf... find a great steak place (maybe one with a fab salad bar--- my fav) you can certainly feel VERY treated and still stick with the program. Looking for desserts? Look up linda's recipe website... there are plenty of options there, many that are induction friendly... good luck!!!
