    Hi,

I have recently put on weight as evidenced by the fact that my summer clothes from last year are way too tight. A few of my friends, middle aged like me, have tried the low carb plan and been quite happy.
I would like to look into this plan and see what it is all about.
I want to do a good job and lose this weight that is making me feel very unhappy. Hoping you can help! I am ready to give this a try! Thanks!

Reading about the different phases now. Lots to learn! Worried about getting headaches, at least at first!

              Re: Lce

Not everyone gets the headaches and other 'flu-like' symptoms but in case you are one who does, maybe plan to start just before the weekend or a slack time at work so if needed you can take some time off and take things easy.

You just have to find your will power and do it. That is all there is to it.
Were you on induction still? If you had several days of high carb food, it is probably best to do induction foods for a few days to try to gain some control back.

                        Re: Lce

This is not a tough love session but you need to know the facts. There's no one but you that can help you get back on.

99% of the success to Atkins is in the step you take to really commit yourself. If you aren't ready for that commitment then maybe this isn't the right low carb plan for you since Atkins is probably the strictest in many ways. You need to make a choice to do this and not be swayed by events, parties, etc. or understand that if you stray the results are going to affect you faster and sometimes with more dramatic gains than on other ways of weight loss. We all go astray from time to time, but that intitial commitment has to be there because the first few months of success are what get you back on track if you stray later. If you can't commit to a full month, no excuses, then you probably won't be successful long term. Wish there was an easy solution but there isn't. So the question to ask yourself is "Am I ready to make a serious change or do I just wish the pounds were off but am not willing to give up all my goodies when temptation calls?" I struggle with this periodically and sometimes I am just not ready to commit. When that's the case I just end up frustrated and disappointed in myself. Give this some thought and figure out where you are in the big picture. If you aren't ready now, keep this in mind and commit when your head is in it.

                        GOAL ONE 228
                        (take 2)
                        GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
                        GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
                        FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
