  • I'm still here!!!

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while since I've posted here. I've been on Atkins for nearly 3 months and I think ths weight loss is really slowing down. I'm addicted to stepping on the scale, it's frustrating when I step on it one day and the next it's up by 3 lbs. What does this mean? I know that I shouldn't be a slave to the scale, but I am so scared that if I don't get on the scale I won't know if I start to gain. I stupidly didn't start by measuring. I guess I could start that now. I'm still in induction and scared that if I move on to OWL that the little amount of weight loss I'm seeing now, will completely go away. By no means am I discouraged, but I am just looking for a little technical support. I know my menu is spot on, as well as my water. I need a boost HELP!!!! Here is a sample of my menu...

    Breakfast:
2 eggs 2 strips organic sugar and nitrate free bacon

    Snack
    Celery (2 stalks)

    Lunch:
Oven roasted turkey rolled with swiss cheese
    Sliced red pepper 1/4 cup
small spinach salad about a cup (sometimes romain lettuce) sliced cucumber

    Snack
    more red pepper

    Dinner
6 oz of meat of choice
large salad with toppings like crumbled bacon, feta, and cucumber...

Anyway, this will give you an idea of course it varies a little each day but I usually come in right near the 20 carbs.

    Once again...help!!!!

I'm not seeing any 'fat' items on your menu... i.e. butter, salad dressing, mayo etc...

When you enter your menu into fitday.com what are your daily percentages of fat/protein/carbs?
    F/46/5'2" - 249/198/115
    Start Date 03/06/09

    Mini goals:
    1st - 25 lbs down - Met 06/19/09
    2nd - Onederland - Met 03/10/10
    3rd - 75 lbs down
    4th - size 12
    5th - BMI 21

Oh...I forgot, yes there are fats in my diet. Butter in the morning with my eggs, mayo with lunch, and I do use a little ranch dressing with my salads. Cream cheese with my celery. Do the fats in cheeses and bacon count? For dinner sometimes I will have hamburger or itailian sausage I know those have fats as well. I am farily certain that I am getting enough fats. At least I feel like I am.

I have yet to use fitday. Maybe I will try that for a week. Where does it say in the book what your percentages should be? I'll have to read it again for a refresher!

Dr Atkins didn't mention percentages at all in DANDR (or any of his other books either as far as I know).

The ratios of 65% fat/305 protein/5% carbs were arrived at by a Duke's University study after analysing the induction menus in the book.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Re: I'm still here!!!

you may be afraid to move on to OWL but it sounds like you need to -- the first rung is 5 net carbs of vegetables ---- vegetables will help you not hurt you. How about putting some vegetables from the "other" vegetables list each day. For your 5 net carbs of veggies try some canned pumpkin with cream (or cream cheese), pumpkin pie spice and microwave it.....

Try some recipes from the recipe sites to vary your menu, it looks like you would get bored with the same thing over and over - I rarely eat the same thing day to day or even week to week.

OWL would probably do you good.
