Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09
50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09
Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

Dr. ATkins said you don't need to count calories, but they do matter---that is you can't stuff yourself and expect to lose weight. At the same time, Dr. Atkins wrote about a "metabolic advantage" his diet has. That metabolic advantage is an extra 200-300 calories above your normal caloric intake.
If you feel hungry, there are a few reasons:
1. You aren't eating enough to satisfy your daily caloric needs.
2. You aren't eating enough fat.
3. You are eating/drinking something that is affecting your blood sugar, resulting in cravings/hunger.
By the way, during extended Induction, you are still eating no more than 20 net carbs daily, still following the Rules of Induction, and still limiting yourself to the foods on the Induction Acceptable Foods List. I'm only writing this because some folks have the impression that "extended" Induction means you can eat whatever you want as long as you don't go over 20 net carbs daily.

Cottage cheese can be introduced in OWL Rung 2. But to get to OWL Rung 2, you need to make a stop in OWL Rung 1 first, so you should add more vegetables before adding non-Induction diary products.Originally posted by somethings gotta give View Postoh i added cottage cheese
