Hi anyone reading this. I have just finnished week 2 of induction and wondered if I can stay on induction as I have about 42 pounds left to lose. I wanted to know if I can drink alchohol and what kind of booze can I drink? I have a party coming up by the way...I'm really not an alchoholic...honest!!!!

    Re: Alcohol

    Hi Amy
    Welcome to our ADBB family

How many pounds did you lose in your first 14 days on induction? People with a high resistance to weightloss and with over 50 pounds to lose 'might' benefit from a longer induction than the 2 weeks but most of us would not.

Alcohol would become 'legal' once you reach the 5th level/rung of the main weightloss phase (OWL - Ongoing Weight Loss) if your body allows you to still lose weight and not get cravings or other blood sugar symptoms from its consumption, so move to OWL and before too long you could try and see how you do.

Also drinking alcohol is likely to halt any weightlosses till your body burns it all up and restarts burning fat, so you would need to decide whether you want to stop losing weight for a while not to mention the fact that many members have found that drinking alcohol tends to make their resistance to eating off-plan much lower and they discover that they wake up having indulged in more carbs than they intended
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Re: Alcohol

Thanks for the reply Elizellen and thanks for the warm welcome....I lost 12 pounds on induction which I'm really happy with. No alchohol then, it's probably a good thing, would a hangover on atkins be even more dodgy than normal???
I know I should buy the atkins book in full I only have the first 2 weeks made easy.....and now thats done it's not clear what to do next. Can I pick your brain again and ask do I add 5 carbs a week now??

        Re: Alcohol

Pop over to the OWL (ongoing weightloss) forum and read some of the stickies there which will give you some insight into how to do the main phase of Atkins.

          Wow!!
You lost 12 pounds already out of a total of 54 ?!?!?

That is over 20% of your total loss in only 2 weeks and is great losing

I'm not going to tell you to drink or not, however, I've found that Michelob Ultra is quite low in the carb department and it's not bad tasting either.
