  • Saying Goodbye...Induction Day 12

I know, it's two more days right? Why quit now? I just think that while this diet has been extremely effective for countless people, it is just not right for someone who has a tiny bit to lose. In the 12 days on this diet, I have grown to truly hate the taste of meat and mayonnaise! I've also not lost a single pound and I felt really lethargic and uncomfortably full for most of the time. I am going to switch to a low fat, low cal diet, combined with exercise and see where that gets me. I think that's the healthiest option for me.

I want to thank all of you who responded to my posts, with answers, support and encouragement. You are all inspirations and to a lot of newbies and future Atkiners, you are the role models and support buddies that they really need. While this may not be the appropriate diet for me, I cannot contest the countless success stories that I've read over the past few weeks.

As for me, I'm going to go about this the old fashioned way. Who knows, maybe i'll be back!

    Signing off...

most people are uncomfortable on the diet for the first 3 weeks atleast

your body cant overcome its addiction to carbs in just 12 days you still will have semi withdrawals

i know you would feel better if you stayed on the diet longer and gave your body a chance to change its entire metabolism but i guess it cant be helped

it took me a few months from starting the Atkins diet before i really noticed great energy and feeling great but the reason it took me so long was cause i had a horribley damaged metabolism from high carbs and mine took longer than normal to be healed

anyways remmber your always welcome back if you want to try the diet again take care

I agree. It's worth a month and it's best when you have time to put into planning what you'll eat.

Low carb diets are not for everyone. You have to do what you feel comfortable with and what you think you can make a lifestyle.
            Good luck to you.

                  Good luck.

I just need to remind everyone, especially the Newbies, that during the 14 Day Induction phase, one can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight you need to lose. So a person with a 10 pound weight loss goal, can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound. A person with a 100 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 5 to 10 pounds.

The other issue is if one's start weight is already within the "normal" BMI parameters, one's body might refuse to go from a BMI of 20 to a BMI of 18.5 because it simply isn't healthy.

                    I second this.

I am of the opinion that just about any "diet" can work... it is just a matter of finding the one that you can live with consistently, for a lifetime.

Good luck, and as Julie said, you will always be welcome to come back if you decide to.
