Well today is the first day of my second week. Day 8..I'd been trotting along pretty well stayng away from the carbs no more than 10-15 a day and of course this weekend had to my Mothers Day weekend, right...Saturday night my husband takes me out to a fancy seafood restaurant and I was really convinced that I wasn't going to eat any of that "hot fresh bread" yeah right!! Yes I ate one...ok I took a couple of bites of that fully loaded baked potato too....When I woke up Sunday morning I knew that if I messed up and ate the bacon & pancakes I fixed for my family It would all be over & I might as well forget it. Thank you Jesus! I actually didn't have any trouble at all skipping the pancakes and sticking to the bacon and an egg. It really wasn't that hard at all. I'm taking this one day at a time..one pound at a time..I'm pretty sure I can do this again & I just need to stay focused.

Re: Can I do this again?
Well done - glad you got right back on the horse Sunday morning! The worst thing you can do once you've cheated is keep cheating because 'you've ruined it anyway'. Glad you're back - I'm sure you can do it too.

Re: Can I do this again?
Crap!! Yesterday I weighed in at 184.4 Today 185.2...I ate 1 boiled egg + 4 slices of center cut bacon for breakfast...2 slices of smoked deli ham 0 carbs + 2 slices of colby jack 0 carbs + 1 slice of pickle 1 carb for lunch. Dinner was 1 - 8 oz ribeye + 2 slices of pickle 2 carbs+ a handful of hot&spicy pig skins. What happened? I am still on phase 1 induction. I should not have gained.Joanna

Re: Can I do this again?
It is a common myth that dieters will not gain during induction... that's why it is best to stay off of the scale until induction is over... that way you don't get caught up in the daily drama of water fluctuations...
On the other hand... your carbs are too low, I don't see any veggies other than pickles and your percentages are probably out of whack. Try entering your foods into fitday.com and see what the numbers come out to be. Your percentages should be 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs... Let us know what amounts it says you ate in regards to calories, fat and protein...

bacon = sodium
deli ham = sodium
colby jack = sodium
pickle = sodium
pig skins = sodium
You gained a bunch of water weight. Cut back on the salty foods/snacks and it will go away so long as you keep your water intake up. Counterintuitive, but true- the more water you drink, the less you retain.- M/37

Re: Can I do this again?
Oh, one more thing. You might want to get away from weighing yourself every day, so as to avoid these anxieties. Weight goes up and down within each day and from day to day for reasons we can't explain. Once I went to a weekly weigh-in on Saturday mornings, my anxiety level about weight fluctuations and obsession with the scale went away. Just a suggestion...good luck!- M/37

Re: Can I do this again?
Is there any way to make the induction food list a sticky on the FAQ forum?
==========
Anyway, colby-jack cheese may not be allowed on induction, if so it is allowable in OWL rung 2.Last edited by msanjelpie; May 17, 2009, 01:23 PM.

Re: Can I do this again?
It is I think, but I will go over there and checkWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Can I do this again?
You count 1carb per ounce of cheese (colby jack is cheese?) no matter what the package says (in the book). Also be careful of that ham...it is processed and may have carbs in it - up to .49 carbs per 'serving'. Eat 5 servings, you can have eaten .45 carbs and counted it as zero.
Ditto on adding veggies, min 64oz pure water, exercise and weighig 1/week max.
I think the food list is a sticky in the induction forum, isn't it?Julie__________________F/37/5'2"__________________Start April 15, 2009

Re: Can I do this again?
No, I checked and it is not a sticky but it is one of the posts in the FAQ forum though, along with many other important posts.
If colby jack is an aged hard cheese then it IS OK on induction - the list in DANDR is just some examples of the kind of cheeses we can eat then, not a complete list.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
