  • Cornmeal??

I got out and dusted off my book cause someone had asked to borrow it. I was scanning though it just now. I had forgotten how well written it is. I need to read through it more often Anyway on page 371 it mentioned cornmeal. I always assumed that was a nono but he said it adds crunch to fried foods. Like a coating. So has anyone done cornmeal and been ok with it?

Rung 8 maybe since it is corn? I have not tried it either. Quite carby and glycemic but I think it could be interesting to try out.
It does not look that different from wheat to me in terms of carb and glycemic. Maybe marginally better.

Since corn is a grain, it is a "nono" only until you reach OWL Rung 9. After than you can add it to your diet, following of course the rules of OWL regarding amounts.

No it didn't say for what rung. He was talking about staples to keep in your pantry to make Atkins easier. Among the list was: broths, tomato sauce, canned pumpkin, wild rice? and cornmeal.

Wild rice and cornmeal for rung 9 for sure. The book does cover all the phases of the diet so we have to assume everyone has to make their own judgement here of what foods they can eat at a given time. There are also frozen berries on that list, right?
