  • Question?! Is this OK for Induction?

We are wanting to try this recipe, but I am wondering if a low carb/zero sugar pizza sauce is allowed on Induction? Or, should we make it with a real tomato and some seasoning? Or, just leave it out all together?

I won't be using mushrooms, I don't like them, but hubby likes them, are they ok?

    DEEP DISH PIZZA
    4 ounces cream cheese, softened
    2 eggs
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 1 ounce (I used the kind in a can)
1/4 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
8 ounces Italian cheese blend or mozzarella cheese, shredded
    1/4 cup pizza sauce
    4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
Assorted toppings: pepperoni, ham, sausage, 4 ounce can mushrooms, green peppers, bacon, ground beef, etc.
Dash of garlic pepper or garlic powder and some Italian seasoning for top of pizza

As long as all of the ingredients in the pizza sauce are allowed, then the sauce is allowed. If it has no sugar or starch in it, it should be OK - otherwise, find sugar-free tomato sauce & add some herbs to it - you've made your own pizza sauce.

Also, don't use pre-shredded cheese - it is coated in starch so it doesn't stick together...grate your own

...okay, depending on how much you eat of it. Assuming you plan to only eat the described toppings, bear in mind your daily cheese limit on induction is 3-4 oz. Likewise, depending on the quantity you eat, you will assimilate carbs from the ingredients (not only the cheese) which must be counted, and yes mushrooms are OK. One other word of caution - any seasoning mix from the store has the potential to contain hidden ingredients not allowed during induction, or with extra carbage - check the label(s).

It will be a challenge to keep the cheese count low, both of us really love cheese! lol

Re: Question?! Is this OK for Induction?

This whole recipe contains 17 ounces of cheese, so you would have to eat less than 1/4 of the pizza to stay within the guidelines.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

I made the cauliflower crust pizza the other day - I actually forgot to add tomato sauce - it was still great!
