  • The People's Pharmacy

I'm a big fan of NPR (National Public Radio). One of my favorite shows comes on early Saturday and it's called The People's Pharmacy. The hosts are a husband and wife team and they talk about all kinds of health related stuff. Having been in long-term health care for 25 years I have always been interested in alternative health care. So, this morning as I'm doing my thing at work I'm listening to this show and they had this very nice and educated lady talking about our NEED for fat and animal protein! Amazing! She talked about how our ancestors had the right idea about how to eat. They ate the fat of the animals they grew and hunted and most of the time threw away the lean parts! She also talked about how lard is so rich in vitamin D! I had no idea! I may be rambling here a bit but it was just so refreshing to hear someone say the things I've been thinking for so long. For the life of me I can't remember the guests' name but I was almost standing up and cheering while I was listening to her.
She also said something that I think most of us have found out for ourselves by eating the Atkins way. If you eat meat, and eggs, and fat you don't crave sweets. For me that is one of the very best benefits of eating this way. Oh, and by the way, my dog, Chester, loves me eating this way. Yes, he's the inspiration for my screen name

its nice when someone talks about true healthy eating

are ancestors had it good when it came too eating properly fruit along time ago had WAY less sugar than it does today so maybe fruit was just as good to eat as berries back then

also fruit was only available for like 2 months? out of a year

there was no real grain/bread food back then and who knows if anyone knew what potatos or corn was i think so the only high carb thing they had was honey and that was guarded by bees xD
