  • y'all are my witnesses. New approach to our friend the scale

alrighty, i'm your classic weigh every morning person. i did it this time on atkins, i did it last time, and the time before that, etc etc.
However, I worked it out and figured out the date i'm trying to hit my goal by is 23 weeks away. thats 161 days. thats a lot of opportunities to see something I dont like, then let it effect what I do that day.

So! I've made myself a nice little list of weeks 1-23 in my little notebook along with the dates, and those are the -only- days i will stand on that scale. in the next 5 months i'll only be standing on that scale 23 times! not 5000!! 23! twenty threeeee!

I'm also trying to shoot for 2lbs every week. I know at some point it will be more and it will be less(i technically only need to lose 1.5 averaged out to hit goal by then), but I seem to be one of those weirdos that likes constant, tangible goals i can write down so I don't get lazy with it. yay structure!

So if anyone pokes into my journal and sees me on the scale when I shouldn't be, you have permission to come poke me in the eye or something.

2 lbs a week is a high goal, especially counting stalls every 10 lbs or so...

Starting after induction - determine how many lbs. you have lost per month and then divide that by how many weeks and you will have a more realistic weekly goal...

I've lost 20 lbs in 10 weeks which sounds like 2 lbs per week, but if I take away induction then I have lost 11 lbs in 8 weeks and that's more accurate to the rate that I will lose for the rest of the diet...

The closer you get to goal, sometimes the weight loss slows down too...

hm lessee.., minus the first 2 weeks, its beeen.... 13lbs in a little less than 8 weeks, including the last couple weeks of being stuck between 209 and 207 since being on the antibiotics that make me sick. which is about....
6.5lbs a month, which would be....
32.5lbs in 5 months, which would put me around...
174.5 by the end of october, which is only...
      4.5lbs above my goal.

not too much of a difference, really. as long as i have something to aim for thats shorter term than just waiting around for 23 weeks to pass, i'm happy. its too easy for me to get overwhelmed either by weighing every day, or only focusing on the very end product. thanks for the advice though, sometimes i think aiming for 2lbs a week keeps me from getting lazy, but it could also get irritating when i start to stall. balance would be nice! also my 'goal' is only about 4lbs into the 'healthy' range for me, as i was always too nervous to hope for more. i shouldn't slow down much and am tentatively hoping to pass it up at some point, theoretically i could go down to 150 and still be smack in the middle of my healthy range.

Just wanna wish you good luck with not weighing. I am in the same boat. I would weigh every day and then get discouraged if I saw the scale go up. Even though I knew it was probably water. I have commited myself to not weighing for two whole weeks at a time. Hope I make it. I will probably cave after a week, lol.

i recommend putting the scale up somewhere you can't reach it! i think i might give my scale to my bf and make him babysit it all week, then bring it here on the weekend haha but i dont know if he'd actually do that for me every week, its kind of silly.

Not silly at all. I already asked my fiance to hide mine. LOL

I weigh myself every morning - if I'm up it's motivation to excersize, if I'm down it's motivation to excersize.

Either way is a little push for me
