  • Waking up way early~

    Has anyone had improved sleep?

Prior ro Atkins,,,,It would be a struggle for me to get out of bed when my alarm goes off. Well since the second day of Induction,,,I have been getting up just shortly before 5 am without an alarm and rested.

    How weird!

I haven't used an alarm clock in months!! I used to struggle to wake up between 5 and 5:30 am. I now wake up anywhere from 3-4:30 EVERY DAY, even on weekends (sigh). I might have better losses if I could sleep more hours but I only require about 5 hours of sleep now. It's certainly helped me to start working out every morning instead of leaving it for the evening!

Not weird at all. That's another pleasant side effect to this Diet. Enjoy it.

I use the "extra" morning hours to exercise, so I get it out of the way and don't have to worry about trying to fit it before I go to sleep.

yep, atkins always makes my sleep patterns go back to normal. when im eating junk, I can stay up till 2-3am before i get tired, then wake up around 10am which is way late for me naturally. i've done that for months on end before and it does not feel good!

these days i naturally get tired anywhere between 9:30-11pm (the earliest i go to bed is around 10, 9:30 just seems way too early!) and always wake up naturally around 7. its funny, even if i wake up earlier and try to go back to sleep, every time I actually sit up and look at my clock its 7am.

I seem to remember also the last time I did atkins I'd get tired around 11-12 and wake up at 6. apparently I need more sleep this go around

I love being able to get up in the morning and not feel like a zombie!

It makes a nice change to be laid in bed waiting for the kids to wake up instead of stumbling along the landing thinking "oh not this early"

The first two days I slept terribly. I woke up tired and stayed tired all day. The past two night I've found myself waking up at 5am and not able to go back to sleep. I'm happy I'm finally able to wake up refreshed and feeling great...AND you have more hours in the day to do the things you normally don't have time for!

I guess I'm the weird one. Morning is still the worst part of the day for me.

Blood sugar problems (too high or too low) can cause excess sleepiness. Since Atkins makes blood sugar stable, the sleepiness goes away. Have a high carb meal right now and you would probably pass out

I've been leaping out of bed and singing "Oh what a beautiful morning!" Haha

I also noticed that I fall asleep a lot easier too. It's great!
