It's funny you mention the sniffing thing. I recently have found myself sniffing various foods (Twizzlers, cookies, cake, etc.). I'm not sure why I do it, but each time I do, either (a) the smell is enough for me to say "Ok, that was interesting/good" or (b) "Hmmm...doesn't smell as good as I thought it would..." Sure, I know I'm probably tempting fate, but there's something really empowering about smelling the foods, putting them down and walking away. Very odd behavior indeed...

I used to think that walking into the grocery store and smelling all that baking was "mmm" ... the longer I was on Atkins, the more icky it started to smell ... and being in the aisle with the Jello ... you can almost see the sugar dust in the air!

I still enjoy a "visit" a "real" chocolate display ... truffles, etc. ... the desire to eat it just isn't there anymore.

                Congrats on being strong!!

                On the smell thing:
I put a vanilla scented air freshener in my bedroom, I have no idea why, but I think the smell is enough....

This thread made me laugh so hard! I am also a sniffer! I have recently found myself encouraging my ideally-weighted husband to order dessert when we go out and then I grill him on how it tastes, would he order it again, etc. He always says it's awful as he finishes off every last bite.

Re: The Battle of Girl Scout Cookies

Last night I buried my face into a big bag of M&Ms... yum! Hubby worried I was going to eat some, but I said nope! just wanted to enjoy the aroma...

Thin Mint girl scout cookies is a major weakness of mine... thank GOD they are only available once a year... although when I discovered that Keeblers chocolate mint Grasshopper cookies were so similar I jumped for joy way back then... Nobody in my house likes them, so fortunately I don't have that temptation around...

OMG I am still so that person who makes everyone she's eating with describe taste, texture, yumminess of any and all desserts they come in contact with hahahaha I don't know how people stand eating with me. Somehow, it works for me, just knowing what it's like.

Yes, I must admit I'm a sniffer as well. Especially the bakery section hot french bread my old fav. But for some reason after my sniffing venture I feel satisfied and full. Hahaha!
