  • Permission to make you drool...

    This is what I had for lunch yesterday, it looked so tasty that the amateur photographer in me couldn't resist to take a photo...

    It's a 12oz grilled flank steak seasoned with black pepper, red pepper, paprika and salt (0c) with 3oz pepper-jack cheese (3c) with 3 stir-fried mushrooms (2c), a few slices of spanish chorizo (0c) and 2 asparagus spears (2c).

    7 grams of carbs total... it's not that bad for a huge meal is it?

    That is very drool worthy! We are so deprived on this "diet"!!!!!!!!!!

      WOW! That looks great. I made southwestern taco soup from Linda's site and it was so good. It is only when I don't plan ahead that I get whiny about the lack of food choices. They are there!

      1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
      what the rungs mean to me:
      rung 1 - more veggies
      rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
      rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
      rung 4 - berries, melon
      rung 5 - wine -
      rung 6 - beans, hummus
      rung 7 - other fruits
      rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
      rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
      Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
      (on to pre-maintenance)

        Mmmmm!! Taco soup... I'm having thoughts!

        My girlfriend had basically the same than me, but she also had a baked potato which really made me feel I was missing something

        This is the first time I have a "sunday steak" with no potatoes

            Hey Joe -- great looking meal....next time you feel like you are "missing" something try this Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes I had it last night and didn't miss a baked potato -- it was wonderful!

                  ohhh boy! those low-carb recipes look great for the somewhat near future (after induction is over), they're a little high-carb for induction I guess... I'd have to keep the portions rather small and as you can see in my pictures, that's not my strategy
