  • Low or High Ketosis and Ketosis forever?

I have two quick questions. Does it matter if you are in high or low ketosis, as long as you are in it?
For instance, I was in the upper dark brown level for a week or so, then I went lower to the next red and the yesterday, I must have eaten a hidden carb, I was in a lighter pink. This morning I am back on the highest level. Does it matter when it goes light pink, as long as I stay in ketosis.

Then, question two, will I need to be in a state of ketosis forever?

No. The ketostix only measure a concentration, not the actual number of ketone bodies. Their color is affected by things like exercise, moment of the day, food you had at your previous meal, water intake. As long as the color changes, you're in ketosis and that's all that matters.

However, just because the stix change color it does not necessarily mean you are losing weight. Nor does it mean you are out of lipolysis/ketosis if they don't change color.

Also remember that they'll stop changing color once you get to around 50 carbs per day.

Then, question two, will I need to be in a state of ketosis forever?
No. By the time you reach Pre-Maintenance you will probably be out of ketosis.

Worrying about Ketosis is a good thing in the very beginning to affirm that the diet is in fact working (outside of weight drop).

After the first couple of weeks, just make sure you're eating right, getting your exercise and stop worrying about it.
