Sorry I sounded confusing I add the protein powders because I don't like the taste of the syrups. Allot of folks add just the syrups for sweetness. I wish I could find a syrup that I liked. It'd be less calories and protein but they all taste to bitter for me.

Wowsa, I must be dense, because I'm still confused. Is there a reason that you don't just use splenda or stevia to sweeten, rather than the syrups?

LOL Sorry I use the protein powders because I like the flavors. Usually Jay Robb. I don't do the syrups because they are bitter to me. I just don't like the taste of splenda. And stevia is ok but like I said I like the flavor of the protien powder.
If you're still confused, I may have to bang my head against this computer. LOL

I started looking at numbers today and it looks like with everything I put in (a couple tbsp cream, 2 scoops protein powder, 1 Tblsp cocoa powder, 1/2 tblsp flax, 1 tblsp coconut oil, and 3 eggs) I'm pushing like 40 grams of fat and I'm guesstimating ~ 6 grams of carbs. Does that seem like too much for breakfast/1 meal alone?

            Thanks!

I would say yes. It really looks very substantial I suggest cutting down on some things. Some of the fat and some of the protein. Either protein powder or eggs - not both. Either coconut fat or cream - not both. (And it is looking to me like more than 6 carbs but a quick look but I had to run it through fitday to be sure)

Re: Too much fat in breakfast shake?

too high liquid fat intake at one meal can upset your gut

i once drank a giant roast beef greece dripings and had the runs for a few days...

eggs i think are perfectly fine though its just them liquid animal dripings a little is ok but drinking to much of it at one sitting and your gut cant absorb it all

also its somewhat the same for fiber eating to high of fiber from like to many almonds and you wont absorb much of the other food you eat

btw i dont drink greece anymore i just like eat the bits of it that are left on the meat

Susan423, I wanted to say thanks for the Spinach idea! I put a cup of spinach in my egg smoothie this morning and it was great! It felt so healthy to get a cup of spinach in first thing in the morning. Great tip!

I don't know about Susan, but I did raw. I liked it and plan on having it again today!

I cut back a little on the coconut oil and it seems to be better. The protein powder I found that I really like is Chocolate Greens & Whey by Biochem. It has lots of good extra stuff in it. It only has 2 net carbs for 2 scoops and 20 g of protein, sometimes I mix 1 scoop of this with 1 scoop of another protien powder that only has 1 carb per 2 scoops and a little less protein. I just looked at the label and realized it has MCT concentrate from coconut oil already in it! My guesstimation for the carbs is protein powder = 2 + cocoa powder (I can't remember the brand, but I found some with only 1 net carb, I think Hershey's has 2) = 1, 3 eggs + cream = ~3, coconut oil = 0, flax = 0, for a grand total around 6, but I may be missing something.

Three eggs and cream would be more - flax will have some carbs. But I think I would worry more about how powerful that was. However if you are good and losing with it well then it is no big deal.

And I would use raw spinach.

I may get up the nerve one day.

Lately, though, I've been having a salad everynight with 4 cups of baby spinach leaves as my base instead of lettuce, and I'll add either grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, or grilled mahi mahi to it with caeser dressing. So I'm getting plenty of spinach daily.
